England v Azerbaijan

Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha believes England are in a good shape and feeling positive with their Euro 2009 opener less than two weeks away.

England's preparations for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship began in earnest on Monday, after the team's arrival at their pre-tournament training camp in Spain.

Stuart Pearce and his team will spend the next few days training and conditioning themselves before returning to England on Saturday ahead of their final friendly game before Euro 2009 begins in Sweden on 15 June.

The Three Lions take on Azerbaijan at stadiummk in Milton Keynes next Monday, three days before the plane departs for Scandinavia.

And Onuoha, who was also part of the England squad that reached the Semi-Finals in the Championship two years ago, says that the first days of the get together have been good, and everyone is excited about what lies ahead.

"It's nice here and the sun is shining," Onuoha told TheFA.com. "Today was about us getting back into the swing of things and was a bit more relaxed, but I'm expecting it to get more focused over the next few days.

"I had a week off after the end of the Premier League season, resting and spending time with my family and girlfriend. We met up with England on Sunday and it's good to be here with the team. Everybody is really excited about the Championship.

"We're all getting ready for what begins in two weeks time and feel we can really achieve something."
