A GREAT FAMILY ATMOSPHERE

Posted on: Sat 04 Apr 2009

With 2009/10 MK Dons season tickets proving a massive draw to local families, even the Premier League clubs are losing out.

Because for new season ticket holder Paul Bestford, the chance for him and his grandson to experience the magical family atmosphere at stadiummk was enough to turn his head from the club he has supported for half a century.

Paul, 56 from Tattenhoe, has bought season tickets in the Family Wing for himself and 13-year-old grandson Charlie for next season, after watching the Dons on a casual basis in recent campaigns.

Both supporters of Premier League giants Chelsea, their visits to stadiummk were originally out of interest for the team in their local area, but Paul explained that they quickly developed an allegiance to go alongside their passion for the Blues.

He said: "I have supported Chelsea since 1958 but I moved to Milton Keynes five years ago to be closer to my family.

"My grandson Charlie is a Chelsea fan, but also started supporting the Dons last season, attending the games on an ad hoc basis with his school friends.

"He has become very enthusiastic about the Club and I thought why not purchase a couple of season tickets and start enjoying the atmosphere of a football match again?

"I have been following the Dons' progress since moving here and am very impressed with their rise through the leagues and the tremendous job done by the Chairman and all the staff at the Club.

"stadiummk is very impressive and the facilities are excellent. The Family areas have a very good atmosphere and I feel it is quite safe to take my grandson.

"It just feels that the Dons put a lot into creating a family atmosphere, which I feel will stay with them as they head towards a Premier League place."

With all the excitement of the end-of-season run-in to come, plus his first campaign as a season ticket holder next year, there is plenty for Paul and Charlie to look forward to.

"My Grandson is looking forward to the new season and said he is not embarrassed to be seen with his granddad just as long as I don't start singing!"
