Milton Keynes Dons Football Club is delighted to announce that midfielder Peter Leven has signed a two-year contract extension at stadiummk.

The 25-year-old Glaswegian, who joined the Dons from Chesterfield last summer, has agreed terms on a deal to remain in Milton Keynes until June 2011.

Leven said: "I'm over the moon to be staying here, the negotiations have been going on for a few weeks, but I always wanted to sign for Milton Keynes. It's great to know I'll be here for another two-and-a-half years.

"There's only one direction this Club is going and that's up, and I'm delighted that the Gaffer, Eddie Newton and the Chairman want me to be part of its future.

"Milton Keynes is a great place to be at the moment and I'm happy to be settling down now, with my contract sorted, and concentrating on playing football."

Leven commits his future to the Dons having been linked with a number of moves away from stadiummk, upon the expiration of his original contract this summer.

The talented playmaker has been a mainstay in Roberto Di Matteo's side this term, making 28 appearances and scoring seven goals in a debut season that has seen the Dons emerge as genuine challengers for promotion to the Championship.

Leven's all-action midfield displays have seen the former Rangers and Kilmarnock man become an instant hit with Dons supporters, and his signing comes as a major boost ahead of the end-of-season run-in.

Dons Chairman Pete Winkelman said: "Peter has made a highly-impressive start to his MK Dons career and has become an important, senior member of our first team squad.

"In addition to being a hugely-talented player, Peter believes in what we're trying to achieve in Milton Keynes and we're extremely pleased to confirm his part in our long-term plans."
