LEVEN AND LEWIE IN TEAM OF THE WEEK

Posted on: Sat 22 Nov 2008

Dons duo Dean Lewington and Peter Leven have both been named in the League 1 Team of the Week for their performances in Saturday's 3-1 win over Hartlepool.

The Dons made if four league wins in a row at Victoria Park as and became only the second team to beat 'Pools on their own patch this season.

Lewington curled home a fantastic opening goal on 37 minutes before further goals from Mark Wright and youngster Daniel Powell sealed the points.

Lewington was in typically bullish form at left-back, keeping highly-rated Hartlepool winger James Brown on a tight leash and scoring his first goal in nearly two years.

Leven was equally effective in the Dons engine-room, teaming up superbly with Alan Navarro and Jason Puncheon to dominate the midfield battle.

The Glaswegian played a key role in Powell's late third - starting the move with a fine break out of defence and a great pass for striker Aaron Wilbraham to set up his fellow substitute.

Dean and Pete are joined in the League 1 side by Oldham trio Kelvin Lomax, Chris Taylor and Reuben Hazell while Hereford striker Steve Guinan, who scored twice at the weekend, partners Peterborough's Aaron McLean up front.
