Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo: "It was an excellent afternoon, I thought it was a great effort from the team, we deserved to win the game and it was a good performances as well.

"From the bench the sending off looked harsh but I thought there should have been a penalty on Wrighty just afterwards so it evens itself out.

"It's about time Dean scored and I think he enjoyed it. It was good for Wrighty to get a goal as well - he just needed a goal to unlock him this season and I'm sure he'll follow that up with quite a few."

FULL-TIME: HARTLEPOOL UNITED 1 MK DONS 3

MK Dons make it four league wins in a row with a strong performance in a pulsating game at Hartlepool United.

Playing against 10 men for the majority following 'Pools skipper Sam Collins sending off for a professional foul on Jemal Johnson just 25 minutes in - the Dons made the extra man count with an excellent display.

A rare goal from captain Dean Lewington broke the deadlock on 37 minutes when he curled home exquisitely from 18 yards before Mark Wright doubled the advantage two minutes later when he converted Johnson's cross.

Hartlepool rallied after the break, hitting back almost immediately when Kevin Kyle's shot was turned into his own net by Sean O'Hanlon, but the Dons were in no mood to surrender their lead as many have against the 'Pools this season.

They kept the ball very well in the second period as they looked to kill the game, before 17-year-old substitute Daniel Powell scored on his Football League debut to seal the win.

A first win for MK Dons at Victoria Park and Dons are on the march.

Goal90mins - GOAL! HARTLEPOOL UNITED 1 MK DONS 3 - DANIEL POWELL
What better way to celebrate your debut in the Football League than with a goal and 17-year-old Dan Powell will never forget that moment. Leven leads a break out of defence before picking out Wilbraham completely unmarked on the right. The big man takes the ball down inside the area before squaring for Wright, the winger can't convert but Powell is behind him to prod the ball home.

90+3mins -
With three players treated, Llera included, the game gets back underway.

Offside90+2mins - Ball's in the net but it's not going to stand. Humphrey's chips the free-kick into the Dons box, it's flicked on and Clark rises to head past Gueret but the flag is up for offside and there are bodies all over the Dons box.

90+1mins - Free-kick given against Leven for handball as it dropped over his shoulder 35 yards from his own goal, looked accidental but the free-kick is given.

90mins - We'll have four minutes of added time at the end here, plenty of work for the Dons to do yet but they are making a good job of closing this one out at present.

88mins - Michael Nelson gives Powell a "welcome to League 1" tackle as he thunders through him in the left corner, playing the ball and sending the youngster sprawling.

87mins - Sniff of a chance for Powell there as Wright's cross from the right is headed down by Leven and Powell is blocked by Clark as he tries to shoot on the turn.

Four official board86mins - FInal change for the home side sees Sweeney replaced by David Foley.

Four official board84mins - Great moment for 17-year-old Dan Powell, who comes on to replace Johnson for his Football League debut.

83mins - Dons using the extra man well to keep possession at present but Wilbraham gives Llera an earful for a misplaced long-range ball.

81mins - Dons able to keep possession with Lewington and Johnson down the left a little too easily for the home supporters' liking. Johnson eventually wins a corner off Sweeney.

78mins - Navarro is caught late by Kyle as he tries to play the ball downfield towards Wilbraham. The physio is on to treat the midfielder but it doesn't look like lasting damage. Dons could be in for a battle for these points yet.

74mins - Llera thumps a header away from Jones' corner and Puncheon completes the clearance. Humphreys makes a mess of things just inside the Dons half, allowing Johnson to cause a bit of havoc and as Leven joins in the Dons have a break on. Johnson takes it forward, shifts the ball right but sees his 22 yard shot fly well over the bar.

72mins - Home side upping the pressure with a couple of cross into the Dons box. Kyle tries a spectacular overhead kick from 14 yards that always looks a little high.

71mins - Puncheon again works good space in the middle of the park after exchanging passes with Navarro and Wright, but his well-struck left-foot shot goes wide of the far post.

Four official board69mins - Dons to make their first change with Gerba coming off to be replaced by the returning Aaron Wilbraham.

Yellow Card67mins - A booking for Gerba, presumably for something he said to the referee as the play had clearly stopped.

67mins - Puncheon leads a Dons charge out of defence before feeding Johnson to his right. The American returns the ball to Puncheon 22 yards out and the on-loan Plymouth man's low shot is easily saved.

64mins - A better chance than Leven perhaps realised as Gerba bundles an unaware Ben Clark out of possession 25 yards from the 'Pools goal and Leven decides to shoot first time as everyone expects a free-kick to be given. The ball nestles comfortably in Lee-Barrett's breadbasket and no free-kick is forthcoming.

63mins - Home supporters are sure they have a penalty as Robson does superbly down the left before Cummings expertly shields the ball out for a goal-kick. Mr Swarbrick points to the edge of the six-yard box and not the penalty spot.

62mins - Gerba jumps into the back of Liddle for a blatant Hartlepool free-kick. The home supporters want more but a free-kick will have to do. It's floated into the Dons box by Jones and won in the air by Kyle but his header is low on power and Gueret saves easily.

60mins - Gorgeous crossfield ball from Navarro to find Wright out on the left flank. Wright runs at Sweeney before cutting inside and seeing a right-footed shot from 17 yards saved comfortably by Lee-Barrett.

57mins - Sean O'Hanlon is being spoken too after he reacts angrily to a decision going against him. The whistle went for a push by the Dons defender on Kyle as they contested a ball in the air.

54mins - Leven looks to take advantage of Lee-Barrett's poor clearance with a 35-yard chip but the ball drops marginally over with the 'Pools 'keeper recovering.

54mins - Brown tumbles over Llera's leg having been dispossessed just inside the Dons area. Referee Swarbrick never looked likely to award a penalty.

52mins - Dons trying to wrestle the initiative back here and take the sting out of this home fightback. Plenty of time for more drama yet but the Dons are happy to pop the ball around at present.

Four official board50mins - We'd barely had a chance to retake out seats when that one flew in, what a start for the home side and it's certainly got the crowd charged up. The home side made two changes at the break - Matty Robson and Gary Liddle for Monkhouse and Porter.

Goal46mins - GOAL! HARTLEPOOL UNITED 1 MK DONS 2 - SEAN O'HANLON (OG)
Barely 25 seconds on the clock after half-time and Hartlepool start to mount another comeback. Kyle drives a low cross-shot from the right that Liddle looks sure to convert if O'Hanlon doesn't intervene. The defender does just that, but sends the ball flying into the top corner from seven yards.

Whistle4.03pm - SECOND HALF KICKS OFF

HALF-TIME: HARTLEPOOL UNITED 0 MK DONS 2
Dons head for the break two goals and one man in front as Hartlepool supporters around Victoria Park boo referee Neil Swarbrick on his way down the tunnel.

An even contest was tipped in the visitors' favour when 'Pools skipper Sam Collins was shown a straight red card for a trip on Jemal Johnson 25 minutes in, and then the Dons took over.

They took the lead on 37 minutes when captain Dean Lewington curled a wonderful right-footed shot into the top corner from the edge of the area and quickly doubled the advantage within two minutes.

Jemal Johnson teased Ritchie Humphreys down the right flank before cutting the ball across the six-yard box for Mark Wright to sweep in his first goal of the season.

Dons in the driving seat, but Hartlepool's amazing powers of recovery this season shows Roberto Di Matteo's men still need to bury this one.

Plenty of action still to come, you feel sure.

45+1mins - Kyle controls a long throw from the right with Llera at his back, but as he turns towards the deadball line the ball escapes him and goes out for a goal-kick.

45mins - Two minutes of added time to come, but the Dons would take the break now if it were offered, 2-0 will do very nicely at the halfway point.

44mins - Wasted opportunity for the Dons there as Gerba's hold-up play and Leven's eye-of-the-needle pass sends Wright bursting in behind Sweeney down the left. His touch into the box sees Sweeney make good ground on him, Wright has to check and defenders get back to recover.

42mins - It's going to be an uphill struggle for the home side now - down to 10 men and down by two with three minutes to go before the break. Ruthless finishing from the Dons, whose away form continues to stun home fans up and down the country. Porter has just whipped another low ball across the Dons box from the left but all four Dons defenders are cool as you like in letting it run through, untouched and out of play.

Goal39mins - GOAL! HARTLEPOOL UNITED 0 MK DONS 2 - MARK WRIGHT
Dons strike again with a move started and finished by Mark Wright - who finally has his first goal of the season. The former Walsall man, scorer of 15 goals last season, switches play brilliantly from left to right to find Johnson and the American roasts Humphreys on his way to the byline. He pulls the ball low across the six yard box and Wright is there to sweep it home.

Goal37mins - GOAL! HARTLEPOOL UNITED 0 MK DONS 1 - DEAN LEWINGTON
What a strike from the skipper as he registers his first goal in nearly two years! The Dons work the ball right then left with Navarro calling the tune before Lewington decides to step forward, gets a bit of luck in riding one challenge but then curls a magnificent RIGHT-footed shot into Lee Barrett's top corner from the edge of the area.

35mins - Leven is left arms-outstretched, bemused as to why he didn't get a shout as Humphreys sneaks up on him and pinches the ball away when Leven had good attacking position down the right.

33mins - Dons work it wide to Johnson again, who looks happy attacking Humphreys one-on-one. Humphreys shows him inside, Johnson obliges and sees a left-foot shot held well by Lee-Barrett low to his left.

32mins - Navarro, in acres of space in midfield, picks out Johnson on the right flank and the American cuts back in before delivering a teasing, inswinging ball that misses everyone and goes narrowly wide of the far post.

30mins - The crowd are right behind the home side now, incensed by the decision to send Collins off. There was no thought of a second yellow for the skipper and that has left the home support fuming. Dons are controlling possession now but they need to make it count.

27mins - As the chaos subsides, Dons work the free-kick for Gerba to have a shot, it deflects into O'Hanlon's path seven yards out and the Dons defender is somehow denied by an incredible save from Arran Lee-Barrett.

Red Card25mins - COLLINS SENT OFF FOR HARTLEPOOL
Controversial stuff here as Collins is shown a straight red card for a professional foul on Johnson. The 'Pools skipper dallies in possession and is robbed by Leven deep inside his own half before Gerba sets Johnson clear. There is a clash of legs between the two, a free-kick is given on the edge of the box and Collins gets his marching orders.

24mins - Whiff of a chance for Jones at the other end as he slides to get something on Porter's driven cross from the left but can't get a significant connection.

23mins - Lovely driven ball from Puncheon out to Johnson on the left flank and he wins a corner going on the outside of Sweeney. Wright delivers it but the whistle goes for a foul by O'Hanlon as he challenges the goalkeeper for the ball in the air.

20mins - The resulting free-kick is lumped forward and breaks the way of Brown. The winger slides Porter into shooting space to his right but Porter's shot is dragged wide of the far post from 16 yards.

Yellow Card20mins - Puncheon leaves a foot in on Humphreys on the Dons right touchline and goes into the book as a result.

18mins - More powerful defending from Cummings as he steps in front of Porter to prevent the 'Pools striker running onto a scrappy break into the Dons box. Home fans cry foul but that's superb stuff from the on-loan Chelsea full-back.

Yellow Card17mins - Collins is going to be booked for a late tackle on Leven halfway inside the 'Pools half. It was a poor challenge and it probably didn't help his cause that Clark escaped a similar one on Navarro minutes previously.

15mins - Half a chance for Leven but he didn't know much about it. Confident passing between O'Hanlon, Navarro, Puncheon and Cummings down the right allow them to set Wright into space in an advanced position. His mid-height cross hits Leven as he tries to turn and bounces invitingly into his path - but the Scot was facing the wrong way.

11mins - Outstanding piece of defending by Cummings as he holds off Porter to win a long ball downfield and then earns a free-kick deep in his own territory.

10mins - Puncheon already looks like picking up some dangerous positions and is very unlucky with a flick round the corner for Leven in midfield. Johnson follows that up with a whipped cross from the left that shaves the top of the net on its way over.

7mins - Dons just trying to contain the home side at the moment as Jones' corner from the right is met firmly by Nelson, but his downward header bounces up nicely for Gueret. Important early spell for the Dons as they try to weather the early storm, they need to hold onto possession where possible.

5mins - Almost a complete nightmare for Gueret as he first takes too long over Lewington's backpass and is charged down by Porter. Gueret tries to make amends by retreaving the loose ball, is caught out by Brown and his cross into the centre, where the Dons goal is open, is hacked away by Sean O'Hanlon.

4mins - It seems Hartlepool have their own long-throw weapon, as the Dons do with Leven, as captain Collins hurls a ball in from the left. Llera heads it away as far as Ritchie Jones 20 yards out but his shot is a wild one and well over the bar.

3mins - Dons giving as good as they're getting in the opening exchanges with Leven winning a good tackle on the left, but suddenly Porter breaks their offside trap down the 'Pools right. Llera forces him wide and his chipped cross towards Monkhouse at the far post is too high and the winger heads behind for a goal-kick.

Whistle3.00pm - KICK OFF
Dons get the game underway, playing in all red from left to right as we look at it, defending the end housing their supporters. Hartlepool in white shirts, blue shorts and blue socks.

2.57pm - The teams emerge into the late afternoon sun to applause from all four sides of the ground. There is a respectable number of Dons fans gathered behind the goal to our left having made the long trip north east. Final preparations to come before the coin-toss and then we'll be ready to go.

2.53pm - It could be a memorable day for young Daniel Powell this afternoon should the young striker see any action from the bench. The Dons' current injury problems see the 17-year-old retain his place on the bench from last week's FA Cup defeat to Bradford and, given his rampaging performance in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup on Tuesday, he could be a decent option if the Dons need something late on today.

2.50pm - Both sides have completed their respective warm-ups and just a few Dons substitutes, namely Aaron Wilbraham, remain out on the pitch. Wilbraham will be desperate to get back into the action today having had an excellent start to his season cut short due to an ankle injury. He's certainly a fine option to have on the bench for later in the game.

Today's fixture is something of a landmark for MK Dons - it's the 200th league game since the club came into existence.

2.47pm - HARTLEPOOL UNITED TEAM NEWS - Few such injury problems for Wilson as he makes one change to his side following the 3-3 draw with Brighton in the FA Cup last week. Frontman Kevin Kyle, having renewed his loan from Coventry this week, comes in up front in place of Michael Mackay.

James Brown is a livewire to watch out for in midfield for the home side while Kyle's strike partner Joel Porter has nine goals to his name already this season.

HARTLEPOOL UNITED: Arran Lee-Barrett, Antony Sweeney, Michael Nelson, Sam Collins (c), Ritchie Humphreys, James Brown, Ritchie Jones, Ben Clark, Andy Monkhouse, Kevin Kyle, Joel Porter.

Subs: Jan Budtz, Gary Liddle, David Foley, Michael Mackay, Matty Robson.

2.40pm - DONS TEAM NEWS - The big news from the Dons' point of view is that Luke Chadwick misses out after picking up an injury in training and did not travel with the team to Hartlepool. Jemal Johnson retains his place in the side as a result while Willy Gueret and Jason Puncheon also return to Roberto Di Matteo's team.

Gueret's comeback follows a three-match suspension and sees Welsh international Lewis Price drop to the bench. Puncheon is expected to play just off lone-striker Ali Gerba with a midfield of Mark Wright, Alan Navarro, Peter Leven and Johnson.

MK DONS: Willy Gueret, Dean Lewington (c), Miguel Llera, Sean O'Hanlon, Mark Wright, Jemal Johnson, Jason Puncheon, Shaun Cummings, Ali Gerba, Alan Navarro, Peter Leven.

Subs: Aaron Wilbraham, Flavien Belson, Lewis Price, Daniel Powell, Bondz N'Gala.

Daniel Powell

Seventeen-year-old Daniel Powell could make his first league appearance having been named on the bench.

2.35pm - Welcome to a suspiciously-mild Victoria Park out on the north east coast as MK Dons prepare to face former boss Danny Wilson and his entertaining Hartlepool United side.

Days this far north in mid-November are supposed to be bitter, but the sun is still shining in Hartlepool today and, whilst nobody is pulling out the sunglasses just yet, conditions could be a great deal worse for League 1 action.

The Dons go looking for a fourth league win in a row this afternoon and will be hoping to stay in the mix at the top of League 1, where the lead changed hands again last night following Scunthorpe's win over Bristol Rovers.

Hartlepool come into the game with only one defeat in their last five league games - but it did come in their last outing at Leyton Orient.

Wilson side have only lost once here so far this season - a 1-0 defeat to Stockport - but have certainly not had a problem scoring goals with 20 rattled in during seven games. The Dons will be looking to exploit the defensive frailties that have seen them ship 13 at the other end.

Big team news on the way, the action gets underway from 3.00pm.
