Hartlepool United v MK Dons

Dons midfielder Peter Leven has backed the team to put their cup disappointment behind them and maintain their challenge at the top of the League 1 table this weekend.

The men from MK make the long trip to Hartlepool United on Saturday looking to bounce back from last week's FA Cup defeat to Bradford with a fourth straight win in the league.

But despite a host of injury problems that could see up to nine squad members missing at Victoria Park, Leven says the mood in the camp is good enough to continue their good form heading towards the Christmas period.

He said: "We were obviously disappointed to be beaten at home and go out of the cup but we've got to pick ourselves up because we've got important league games coming up.

"The boys have been fine, we've had a bit of fun in training and it's been buzzing this week so things are looking good.

"It's important to stay in the hunt coming up to Christmas because there will be a lot of games in a very short space of time. As long as we can stay in there, hopefully in the top six, then we should be alright."

Despite their long list of niggles, the Dons could be boosted by the return of goalkeeper Willy Gueret, who is available again following a three-match suspension.

And Leven says it will give boss Roberto Di Matteo at least one pleasant selection headache, given how well Derby loanee Lewis Price has performed in the Frenchman's stead.

Leven said: "It'll be good to have Willy back, you've only got to look at his form at the start of the season - he's been different class and saved us on more than one occasion.

"It's a nice decision for the Gaffer to have because Pricey's been doing well so we'll see what happens.

"I've not played at Hartlepool before, but I know a few people who have and they tell me it's a tough place to go so hopefully we can go there and get the win.

"I don't know too much about them but I know one lad I played with for Scotland - Jamie McCunnie. I've spoken to him a few times and he tells me they like to play football so it should be a good game."
