You can hear Mikey's live commentary of MK Dons games every Saturday on Horizon Radio 103.3FM and every single game on Dons World.

Sometimes the life of a football reporter is incredibly glamorous, if you follow the likes of Manchester United you get nice jollies to foreign locations like Barcelona, Milan and Paris.

Even the bread and butter of the league involves nice visits to places like the Emirates Stadium, Villa Park and the City of Manchester.

Well let me tell you this commentator doesn't quite enjoy such glamour. I'm writing this week's blog on board Lee Scriven's funbus to Leyton Orient, which I was half an hour late for. My complaints I was up at 4am and had to drive over a hundred miles for other work commitments gain no sympathy.

I'm roundly booed by the other members of the Dons press pack on my arrival and my plans to sleep through the journey are scuppered by Lee's loud music.

Leyton Orient is a far cry from the splendour of stadiummk as well, we are so lucky to have the stadium we have.

In truth I'd prefer the game to be at home, mainly because the atmosphere recently has been well and truly rocking. Against Cheltenham it was unbelievable and sounded like there were at least four or five thousand more people there.

After a sluggish start both on the pitch and in the stands it seems there's a real buzz around the place, like everyone is gradually becoming more comfortable with each other and of course we have more of an idea of just what a season we might have.

In many ways the visit of our former manager showed just how far we'd come in such a short time. It's never easy in football and it's still proving to be a rollercoaster of emotions, but it's fun along the way.

That's why I find it hard to moan, I'm doing something I love and, to be honest, I don't care about the glamour, if we win a game I go home with a smile on my face and all the hassle is forgotten.

It makes it all much easier of course having Mitch alongside me, mainly because he brings food. I often forget how long he's been doing the punditry and how good he has become. It always makes me laugh that he is the only one of the players who knows how to wear headphones.

Everyone else when they come for interviews wear them round the back of their heads like they are DJ's.

They'll likely say I have no idea how to do their jobs in turn. Unfortunately I'd have to agree.

By now you'll have seen and heard about another great result for Roberto Di Matteo's men, in trying conditions it showed an abundance of character to more than survive with ten men for the second time in as many games.

Oh and as for glamour, a quick meal in a popular fast food restaurant at 10:30pm somewhere in London and an hour's kip on the bus back to MK, eventually getting to bed at 2am, it is indeed a truly wondrous life.

At least we won, so I went to bed happy.
