MK Dons striker Aaron Wilbraham will discover the full extent of his ankle injury this week after being forced out of Saturday's game against Peterborough United.

Wilbraham was replaced by Sam Baldock after just 38 minutes of the 2-1 defeat at stadiummk, having landed awkwardly on his left ankle after an aerial challenge with Posh's Chris Whelpdale.

An immediate x-ray showed the joint was not broken, and after undergoing MRI scans, the 28-year-old will see orthopaedic specialist Panos Thomas this week to analyse the results.

Dons head physio Simon Crampton confirmed: "It was a case of Alby being knocked off balance as he jumped, so he landed very awkwardly.

"He was taken straight to hospital for an x-ray which showed no bone injury, but MRI scans on Monday revealed that he has injured one of the lateral ligaments in his left ankle.

"I'll be taking him to see the specialist this week to discuss the MRI scans and develop the best management strategy for the injury he has sustained.

"It's too early at this stage to put a time scale on his rehabilitation."

Meanwhile, Dons 'keeper Willy Gueret has also emerged as a doubt for Saturday's trip to Millwall after sustaining a thigh injury on Saturday.

Gueret was involved in a collision with Craig Mackail-Smith in the build-up to Peterborough's second-half penalty and has not yet trained this week.

Simon added: "Willy's been in every day since Sunday to get treatment. Although the injury is not a serious one, it is an impact injury and needs to be managed carefully to avoid further complications.

"He'll be assessed later this week to determine whether he'll be fit for Saturday.

"At this stage, he has to be classed as a doubt."
