FULL-TIME - COLCHESTER UNITED 0 MK DONS 3
Comprehensive victory for MK Dons but they didn't put it to bed until late as Sam Baldock produced a devastating cameo of his ability off the bench.
Baldock scored twice after replacing debutant Ali Gerba on 72 minutes as an organised away performance was rewarded with three goals.
Aaron Wilbraham had given the Dons the lead with a fabulous second-minute strike from Mark Wright's pass before Roberto Di Matteo's men set about consolidating their lead.
They did that, despite Mark Yeates hitting the post for the home side with a first-half free-kick, and rarely looked troubled by a Colchester attack that looked short on options.
The home side huffed and puffed but just as they looked like setting up a grandstand finale, Baldock produced two poachers' finishes to give the result some added gloss.
90+3mins - COLCHESTER UNITED 0 MK DONS 3 - SAM BALDOCK
Another for the Dons from a wonderful break, started and finished by Baldock and it's the last kick of the game. Baldock collects a ball deep in his own half before handing over to Leven in the middle of the park who pings out to Wilbraham down the right. Wilbraham somehow gets past Reid and into the box before pulling back to Baldock to slot in his second.
90+1mins - There will be three minutes added here and the cry from the Dons supporters is "you're getting sacked in the morning" to Geraint Williams. The home fans are streaming out on their droves.
90mins - It should have been another there as Wright steamed clear down the left and into the area but it's neither a cross for Wilbraham or a shot at goal and the ball trickles wide.
87mins - GOAL! COLCHESTER UNITED 0 MK DONS 2 - SAM BALDOCK
Points in the bag for the Dons as Baldock hits his fourth goal of the season. Navarro drives a ball over Reid's head from deep and Baldock, chasing willingly, gets a break off the Colchester defender as he puts him under pressure. Clean through with Gerkan to beat, the teenage striker finishes calmly.
86mins - Mr Kettle is having a lengthy chat with Leven and his skipper Lewington, unclear as to what that was about but play restarts.
85mins - Wright wins the ball off Ifil on the Dons left to start a counter attack and feeds Baldock inside him. Baldock slides Cummings away through the centre one-on-one with Reid but the defender holds him up sufficiently to make his shot a weak one.
83mins - Hammond finally gets in behind down the Colchester right and stands a cross into the centre for Platt. The big man wins it but heads over from seven yards and was climbing on Llera anyway. Free-kick.
82mins - Colchester becoming increasingly desperate and Yeates, coming in off his left flank, finds some space to shoot from 25 yards but drags horribly wide.
81mins - Massive shout from Cummings for handball against Jackson in the Colchester area as the Dons man tried to cross. Only a corner given and Leven's cross is caught by Gerkan.
79mins - Coyne's long ball forward is won in the air by Platt but Gueret is out to pluck the bouncing ball off the head of Vernon.
78mins - Tackles starting to fly out there as Leven goes in strong on Perkins and Wilbraham the same on Jackson. Completely fair but it's getting mildly tasty.
77mins - Play had stopped for a minute or so while Navarro gets some treatment for a knock. He's back on now though and the game is back underway.
75mins - Colchester make their final change as Dean Hammond comes on for Izzet. Leven makes a terrific sliding tackle on Jackson down the Colchester left and plays the ball off the former Tottenham man for a Dons throw.
73mins - Colchester think they're getting a penalty when Vernon gets onto Izzet's clever pass and goes down under Lewington's tackle but the flag is up against Vernon for offside.
72mins - Dons make their first change and Gerba gets a great reception from the travelling Dons support. He's replaced by young whippet Sam Baldock.
70mins - Chance for Wright as Regan's hard-work down the right pays off, winning the ball back of Jackson and teeing up Cummings to cross. Instead he slides it into Wilbraham's feet who turns well, crosses low across the six yard box. Wright gets in front of his marker on the stretch at the far post but can only stab wide.
68mins - Navarro, for once, is caught in possession by Platt inside his own half but Llera reacts brilliantly to clear.
67mins - Half a chance from Leven's corner from the Dons as Gerba legally challenges Gerkan in the air and O'Hanlon and Llera can't quite get over their shots as the ball bounces around the box. Izzet clears.
65mins - Gueret relieves some pressure with a clean catch from Yeates' left-wing corner. Attendance confirmed as 4,888.
63mins - Second change for Colchester sees Wasiu replaced by Scott Vernon. The home side are trying to up the pressure on the Dons now and they're having a bit of joy.
62mins - Colchester trying to keep possession but the home fans want it forward quicker. Jackson puts Yeates into space in behind the Dons defence on the left bu Gueret is out quickly and Yeates leaves a foot in to the Frenchman's disgust. Free-kick given.
60mins - Jackson's corner from the right sees the Dons struggling to clear there lines and the ball eventually falls to Platt right of centre with his back to goal. He looks good to get a shot away but he slices right footed high and wide.
59mins - Lovely one-two between Regan and Navarro sees the former get in behind Yeates down the Dons right. He pulls the ball back as he drives into the box but Coyne clears before Wilbraham can sweep it home.
56mins - Dons think they've made it two but it's been disallowed for offside. Navarro wins a ball brilliantly in midfield before setting Wright flying away down the left. Wright gets into the box, draws the 'keeper and his rolled shot is turned in by Wilbraham at the far post. Wilbraham is off celebrating but the flag is up.
54mins - Dons trying to play on the counter as Colchester come forward. Wilbraham gets between Coyne and Reid to hold the ball up on the left flank but his switch towards Cummings is too high for the Chelsea loanee.
51mins - There was a change we should have told you about at half-time for the home side. Medy Elito came on to replace full-back John White. Ifil has gone to right back, Jackson to left-back and Elito out to the right flank with Yeates on the left.
50mins - Great work from Gerba chasing Reid down the Dons right. He battles and chases the defender into a corner before taking the ball off him and winning a free-kick. Leven takes and it's headed behind for a corner. Leven delivers again but Wilbraham is whistled for a push in the area.
48mins - Quiet start to the half with Colchester's supporters giving their team a little more encouragement. They'll need them on their side to get back into this. Cummings has a good chance to play Regan into space down the Dons right but takes too long and is robbed of the ball by Izzet.

4.03pm - SECOND HALF KICKS OFF
Dons get us back underway playing from left to right as we see it and attacking their own fans in the second half.
HALF-TIME - COLCHESTER UNITED 0 MK DONS 1
Boos and chants of "what a load of rubbish" from the home supporters greet the half-time whistle and MK Dons head into the break with an early lead intact.
It's been a decent first-half performance from Roberto Di Matteo's men, taking no risks in defence and looking a threat on the counter attack.
The visitors took the lead before many had taken their seats with a terrific strike from Aaron Wilbraham - pinging a right-footed half-volley into the bottom corner from 22 yards after being fed by Mark Wright on two minutes.
It wasn't the start the home side needed and with the crowd getting on their backs, they carved out few outright chances. Mark Yeates, kept quiet for most of the half by the outstanding Dean Lewington, fired over from Johnnie Jackson's pass in their best opening but had been flagged offside. Yeates also curled a free-kick against the Dons post just before half-time.
The Dons themselves haven't created many chances since the goal, but look ominously threatening on the break, particularly with the pace of Wright and the guile of Wilbraham.
It's been a hard-working if not spectacular debut from Canadian international Ali Gerba while Miguel Llera's debut in defence has been equally steady.
45mins - What a chance for Wasiu but it's gone to waste. Perkins clips a ball into the Dons box from the left, Wasiu brings it down eight yards out and seems surprised that the flag has stayed down. He hesitates with his finish and Gueret gets out to smother the ball. Two minutes of added time.
44mins - Wright's ball in is not the best he's produced, too close to Gerkan who catches comfortably.
43mins - Gerba caught late from behind by Coyne and wins the Dons a free-kick 35 yards out left of centre. Wright is standing over it waiting to deliver.
42mins - Yeates hits the post! Perkins is fouled 25 yards out just left of centre and Yeates curls a super free-kick over the wall and against the outside of Gueret's right-hand upright.
40mins - Bit scrappy in the Dons defence as first Navarro and then O'Hanlon are forced into hurried clearances with Colchester trying to press forward. Perkins is trying to conduct play from midfield but they've been unable to pass the Dons backline this far.
38mins - Lewington unhappy with a challenge from Wasiu on Navarro, very similar to the one Wilbraham was just booked for. Dons get a free-kick on halfway but no card.
37mins - Wilbraham goes in the book for a late tackle on Ifil 20 yards from Colchester's goal. He's not had a warning yet but it was a poor challenge from the Dons striker.
36mins - Dons get a free-kick as Coyne blocks Gerba down the left as he tries to close down Gerkan's kick. Good refereeing and a great spot. Wright's delivery is headed clear by Platt.
34mins - Best chance Colchester have created comes the way of Yeates and Jackson had cushioned White's low cross from the right into his path, but Yeates shoots over and the flag goes up for offside anyway.
32mins - Home fans are not impressed and are getting increasingly restless. Jackson pops up on the right to help out Yeates but delivers a poor cross that Gueret deals with without thinking.
30mins - Excellent play from the visitors down the left as Lewington feeds Gerba down the left and he tees up Wright for the cross. It's low towards Wilbraham, who cushions into the path of the onrushing Leven and his cross-shot from a tight angle is headed away by Reid.
29mins - Classic Navarro. Llera is beaten in the air by the enormous Platt and the little midfielder is straight on the scene to head the loose ball safely back to his 'keeper.
28mins - Half a chance for Cummings as he ghosts across the near post to meet Lewington's cross from the left. He gets the ball under control but is off balance from a tight angle and can only stab straight at Gerkan.
26mins - Plenty of hard work from Gerba early on, pressing Colchester defenders all the time but looking a little short on match sharpness. He only needs a chance though.
23mins - Roberto Di Matteo comes to the edge of his technical area for the first time to instruct. His side have lost a bit of control over this game and it's back in the balance. Very even but Colchester are starting to see more of the ball.
22mins - Platt spins on the edge of the Dons box and sees his shot through a crowd blocked by Llera. Optimistic appeals for handball are waved away emphatically.
21mins - Lewington wins a super tackle against Yeates on the Colchester right before trying to feed Gerba ahead of him. Coyne steps into win it, Gerba catches him late and gets a bit of a talking-to.
19mins - Jackson is whistled for a flying tackle on Cummings down the Dons right and gets a stern warning from the referee Trevor Kettle.
17mins - Dons cleverly work a free-kick down the left and Gerba puts Wright into good space on the touchline. His cross is a tricky one and Coyne has to hack it away for a corner. Delivery is caught in the middle by Gerkan.
15mins - Colchester have started with Jackson out on the left and Perkins in central midfield. Ifil and White have also exchanged expected full-back roles with White on the right and Ifil on the left.
14mins - Johnnie Jackson tries to swashbuckle his way through the Dons defence but Lewington gets across his path after Regan's slip and Gueret comes out to smother. At the other end, Gerba slides Wilbraham in down the right and the big striker takes a touch too many allowing Coyne to block his shot.
12mins - Referee has a quiet word to O'Hanlon and Wasiu for a bit of rough stuff on halfway. Navarro has made a very good start in midfield, busily picking up loose balls and keeping the Dons moving forward.
10mins - Terrific jump from Gerba to win Gueret's ball downfield. He even caught his own team mates by surprise with that leap.
9mins - Colchester win a free-kick 30 yards from the Dons goal and Yeates' powerful shot is headed over by Llera for a corner. Comes to nothing.
8mins - No lasting damage to Leven and play restarts with Ifil's long ball from left-back towards Platt. The big man beats Llera in the air but Dons pick up the pieces and clear.
6mins - Dons awarded a free-kick in midfield but Leven's delivery into the box is cleared. The Scot reloads into the box but the whistle goes for a foul by Llera on the edge and the home side get a free-kick of their own. Leven is down in need of treatment having seemingly been caught on the leg.
5mins - We're still catching our breath here following Wilbraham's wonderful opening goal. He's normally the man for an assist but that was terrific finishing.
2mins - GOAL! COLCHESTER UNITED 0 MK DONS 1 - AARON WILBRAHAM
Incredible start from the Dons only bettered by Wilbraham's stunning strike. Mark Wright turns in space down the left flank, clips the ball inside to Wilbraham who lets it run across his body before pinging a fantastic right-footed half-volley beyond Gerkan and into the bottom-left-hand corner from 25 yards.
3.00pm - KICK-OFF
Colchester get us underway kicking from left to right as we see it. The Dons, all in red, are defending the end housing their supporters in the first half.
2.58pm - Leeds have set the tone in League 1 this afternoon with an impressive 2-0 win at Carlisle, the Dons will be hoping for similar success away from home this afternoon. The teams emerge from the tunnel and Chris Coyne leads Colchester down the line of Dons players and officials for the fairplay handshake. Ali Gerba and Miguel Llera get their first taste of a Dons welcome from the visiting supporters and we're nearly ready to go.
2.56pm - Those of you tuning into Dons World this afternoon will be listening to the ever-dulcet tones of Mikey Burrows and Lee Scriven, calling the action in their own colorful style and bringing you a flavour of the atmosphere. We're awaiting the arrival of the teams now . . .
2.53pm - Clockwatch is sitting in the main stand this afternoon, which is quickly filling with what should be the majority of the home support. There are more blue and white shirts housed in the stand opposite plus a sparse few behind the goal to our left. Dons fans, around 200-300 of them at the moment, are housed behind the goal to our right.
2.49pm - TEAM NEWS - Colchester boss Geraint Williams makes three changes of his own with experienced Australian defender Chris Coyne coming in as captain and starts for Sunday Wasiu up front and David Perkins in midfield.
Perkins will be a familiar face to Dons fans - he was twice part of the Rochdale side that did the double over the men from MK last season. None will be more familiar that big striker Clive Platt though, who scored 29 goals in 139 appearances for MK Dons between 2005 and 2007. His outstanding final season, where he bagged a personal best of 18 goals in League 2, earned him his move to then-Championship Colchester a year ago.
2.45pm - TEAM NEWS - Plenty to tell from the teamsheets this afternoon with plenty of changes, two debuts, and a striker playing against his old club. Each side makes three changes from their defeats last week, Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo handing debuts to both Spanish defender Miguel Llera and Canadian striker Ali Gerba, plus a recall to midfield Alan Navarro. Sam Baldock, Flavien Belson and Jude Stirling all drop to the bench.
The Dons are expected to line up in a 4-4-2 formation as follows: Gueret; Regan, O'Hanlon, Llera, Lewington (c); Cummings, Navarro, Leven, Wright; Wilbraham, Gerba.
Subs: Abbey, Stirling, Johnson, Baldock, Belson.
2.42pm - Welcome to the Weston Homes Community Stadium as the MK Dons' League 1 journey takes them to Essex. Colchester United, relegated from the Championship last season, are this afternoon's opponents on a pleasantly sunny day at the U's brand new home ground.
Both these sides are looking to bounce back from 2-0 away defeats last weekend - the Dons' coming at league leaders Oldham and Colchester's to Crewe. In fact, the U's have only won once so far this season, a 3-1 away win at Swindon on August 23. They're currently sitting third from bottom in the League 1 table, little that you can take from it at this early stage, while the Dons sit ninth with nine points from their first six games.
It's an East Anglian derby, if a near-two-hour trip can count as a derby, and the action gets underway at 3.00pm.
