NEW DEAL DELIGHTS DIALLO
Dons defender Drissa Diallo wants to help continue to build the Club's history after signing a one-year contract extension at stadiummk last week.
The Guinea international put pen to paper following a very successful second season with the Dons - one that saw them win the League 2 title and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Wembley.
Diehard Diallo actually missed the back end of the campaign after dislocating his shoulder in March, but 35 starts was a terrific return from the 35-year-old, in a season where his contribution in defence was sizable.
And the former Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday man is targeting another historic season for the Dons in League 1.
He said: "I'm delighted to be staying here, last season was a great season for the Club, the players and everybody involved. It was a memorable season to be part of.
"It was a bit frustrating for me injuring my shoulder at such an important time but the main thing was to get the Club promoted and I'm looking forward to playing a part again next season.
"We are the start of this new Club's history and after winning its first promotion we want to push on next season. There's massive potential at this Club and I wanted to be part of it."
Annoyed at having missed both the Wembley win over Grimsby and the League 2 run-in, Drissa is desperate to help inspire the Dons to similar achievements next term.
And he feels the squad is capable of making a good fist of it.
He said: "It was disappointing to miss some of those big games and I was very frustrated but everybody was great with me - the manager, the players, the medical staff.
"It was a tough time for me but when you see the delight of the supporters and the players it makes it a bit easier. Everyone was so happy to have won the Double and it's an important achievement for this Club.
"With the squad we've got I think we can do well in League 1. The manager will probably look to add a few players, which makes sense, but I definitely feel we can challenge."
