MISSED THE ODDS ON PODOLSKI?
German striker Lukas Podolski provided a lesson for all bet365 punters at Euro 2008 this weekend - get in there early or risk losing the big odds!
The Bayern Munich hitman fired a deadly double against Poland on Sunday, seeing his odds for the Golden Boot slashed from around 20/1 to 11/4 in the process. If you were thinking of backing him, you'll wish you'd stuck your neck out earlier right?
Well fear not, there are still plenty of sharp shooters yet to get started whose odds are unblemished by a stunning start. Take France's Thierry Henry who, just like Podolski was on Friday, is a 20/1 shot to be the competition's leading marksman ahead of Les Bleus opening game with Romania on Monday.
Failing that, there's reigning World Champions Italy who have Podolski's Bayern team-mate Luca Toni in their ranks, fresh from a 39-goal season in the Bundesliga. He's 14/1 now but he might not be for long after the Azzurri meet the Netherlands on Monday night.
Then there's Spanish double-act Fernando Torres (7/1) and David Villa (16/1) to get started on Tuesday but the message remains the same. Delay your bet at your peril.
And remember, if you sign up as a new customer with bet365 before Sunday 29 June, you'll be entitled to £200-worth of free bets on Euro 2008!
