WILLY SAVOURS VICTORY OVER BOSS
He may have just picked up the Puma Golden Glove for his clean sheet-haul this season, but there is a record from the past season that Willy Gueret is just as proud of.
The Dons French custodian won the award with 23 shutouts in the 2007/08 campaign, two more than his nearest rival in League 2, adding further gloss to the Dons' Double-winning season.
But the sweetest victory of all for the 34-year-old came on the training ground, over the man that brought him to stadiummk.
An ever-keen participant in first team training, manager Paul Ince has been on a personal crusade to put 20 goals past the Dons number one this year - a crusade Gueret insists has been unfulfilled.
He said: "I had a bet with the Gaffer that he wouldn't score 20 goals past me in training all season and he got 19 which I was very pleased about.
"He already owes me some money for keeping 23 and now he owes me for not getting his 20 goals!"
It's been a magnificent first season in MK for Guadeloupe-born Gueret, the Club's only ever-present in the League 2 title-winning campaign, the former Swansea man proving one of the key factors behind the Dons' promotion.
And while his shutout targets have been extended with every milestone he's passed, he says clean sheets are a sign of collective strength not individual brilliance.
He said: "At the start of the season we said if we could make 15 clean sheets it would be great for the lads and give them a great chance. When we got to 15 I went for 20 so the target was flexible.
"I'm pleased with the 23, it shows how well we've done as a team and I'm pleased with the way I've been playing too.
"For a goalkeeper, it's great to keep clean sheets but I would never have kept as many without the boys in front of me.
"My back four, the boys in midfield and even the boys up front have worked very hard to make things difficult for the other team.
"Without them it wouldn't happen so the clean sheets are a sign of how well we've all been doing, not just me."
