JJ'S GOT 'EM LICKED

Posted on: Fri 25 Apr 2008

Dons striker Jemal Johnson says the chance to win the League 2 title on Saturday will provide the incentive to end Stockport's excellent recent run.

While a point would be enough to mathematically guarantee the Dons' promotion to League 1, a win coupled with a defeat for Peterborough at Hereford would see Paul Ince's men secure the title.

Stockport's run of nine wins from their last 10 might make them the favourites on their own patch, the Dons have made tough away trips their speciality this season with 16 wins on their travels.

And Johnson, who has scored all of his eight goals this season away from stadiummk, says the Hatters' confident approach could play into the Dons' hands.

He said: "They're going to be full of confidence and coming out in front of their own fans which hopefully will leave us some gaps to exploit.

"They're a team playing well with confidence but, hopefully, we can turn that against them. It's going to be a test for us but we're confident we can get the points we need.

"We play the same away as we do at home and I think that shows. Teams want to come out against us on their own grounds but we're putting them straight on the back foot by always playing attacking football.

"Everyone's confident we can go there and get a result, we just have to keep working, playing the way we have all season and doing the right things.

"Of course winning the title is an added incentive for us all, we've won one trophy this season, we know how it feels to achieve something and we want to keep that going until the end of the season and into next season.

"Coming towards the end of the season everyone's happy we've achieved something and we've manage to put ourselves there or there abouts for the title.

"While we haven't picked up three points from every game recently, we're in a good vein of form and we need to keep that up."
