DONS SECURE WEMBLEY TRIUMPH

Posted on: Thu 21 Aug 2008

Milton Keynes Dons lifted the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Wembley Stadium after a 2-0 win over Grimsby Town.

Skipper Keith Andrews' second-half penalty and Sean O'Hanlon's late header earned the Dons their first ever piece of silverware in front of nearly 57,000 fans at the home of English football.

Paul Ince's team had to overcome a mighty first-half scare when Grimsby were awarded a penalty for a foul on Paul Bolland by Dons 'keeper Willy Gueret.

But the Frenchman heroically saved from Danny Boshell to keep his side on level terms before the Dons took over in the second half.
