Dons manager Paul Ince: "The first half was absolutely dreadful and it wasn't until 15 minutes in that I realised how much the weekend game at Norwich had taken out of the players.

"In the second half we showed a bit more energy, but it was one of those games really - it was a bore-draw."

It would have been hard for either team to justify taking all three points from that game. It was light on inspiration if not on effort.

Oldham had the best chance of the first half when Pawel Abbott headed Lewis Guy's cross over.

Dons improved after the break and Jermaine Easter hit the post before Daryl Flavahan smothered at his feet near the end.

90+1mins - Oldham make their final change as Guy makes way for Ryan Brooke. Three minutes to be added on.

88mins - Lewington wins a free-kick 30 yards out which Randall steps up to, but his dipping shot lands on the roof of the net.

87mins - Same move from an Oldham free-kick on the right corner of the penalty area - pulled back by Stephens for Hazell, but the connection is not as clean and Gueret saves comfortably. Change for the visitors sees Abbott replaced by Tom Eaves.

84mins - That'll raise a few hairs as an Oldham corner from the right is pulled low across the box and Hazell rifles it just over from 14 yards. Dons make their final change as Alex Rae is replaced by 18-year-old Adam Chicksen.

80mins - A goalmouth scramble follows the booking as Lewington's free-kick is won in the air by Powell at the far post, but it just won't come down for Easter inside the six-yard box and Flahavan finally smothers it near his goal-line.

79mins - A booking, the first of the night as Dale Stephens hacks through the back of Mark Carrington's legs after the Dons man had held the ball for what seemed an age down the left flank.

78mins - I'm afraid there's been no problem technically in the last 12 minutes, there has just been very little to report as both these sides labour to make anything happen. It's pretty desperate, we've got to be honest.

66mins - Another change for the home side as O'Hanlon makes way for Darren Powell. So seamless has O'Hanlon's comeback from injury been, it's easy to forget he's been out for 10 months. Another good shift from him and another step on the road to full fitness.

62mins - Dons to make their first change as Baldock makes his way to the touchline after coming through an hour of his comeback. Howell is the man on to replace him, with Chadwick moving further forward to support Easter in attack.

59mins - Good work from Lewington down the left to ride the tackle of Furman and cross from the left, Gregan doing very well to slide in front of Jermaine Easter and clear. Karl Robinson calls for Luke Howell.

56mins - Some treatment required for Furman, who flew into a fifty-fifty with Randall inside the Dons half and came off the worse for wear. Should be ok, but it was a real shuddering challenge from the on-loan Arsenal midfielder.

52mins - Best bit of quality we've seen all night and by some distance as Easter controls Lewington's header forward on the run to surge away from Hazell and into the box. A touch inside leaves Marrow behind and opens up room for the shot, but his effort from 11 yards comes back off the foot of the left-hand post.

50mins - Oldham have looked at their most dangerous with Guy down the right flank and the on-loan Donny man's latest cross is just too far in front of the stretching Abbott in the penalty area.

47mins - Randall takes a free-kick from the left flank that drops towards the head of O'Hanlon at the far post, but he mistimes his jump and heads the ball over from 10 yards.

8.54pm - SECOND HALF KICKS OFF
Back underway at stadiummk, the Dons now attacking the Cowshed in this second half and looking for a breakthrough.

Not the most inspiring half of football, it must be said, as these two sides wait for the other to make a mistake to find the breakthrough.

Oldham created the one decent chance of note - Lewis Guy's cross from the right headed wastefully over by Pawel Abbott from five yards.

Dons have had their fair share of the ball, but haven't managed to draw a dogged Oldham side out yet - Jermaine Easter dragging shot wide from distance if we're really searching for an effort on goal.

There to be won for either side, if someone can inject a bit of quality.

HALF-TIME: MK DONS 0 OLDHAM ATHLETIC 0

45+3mins - Third of four added minutes brought about by the injuries we've had and Smalley does well to make a bit of room down the Oldham left before finding Whitaker just inside the box. It's going to take some effort to beat Gueret from that angle with his left foot and the shot is well off target.

43mins - Whitaker is not far away with a 25-yarder that fizzes over Gueret's crossbar. Karl Robinson is unhappy with the tempo and tries to encourage more speed from the technical area.

41mins - Dons trying to inject some life into the game, but Oldham are determined to make it difficult for them with 10 men behind the ball. Crowd get frustrated as the ball goes backwards to go forwards, but it's a patience game the Dons will have to play if they're to draw Oldham out.

35mins - Early change for Oldham as Joe Colbeck makes the long trot across to the dugout. It's unclear whether he has a problem, but he'll be replaced by Deane Smalley.

29mins - Jermaine Easter hits the deck after becoming Gregan's latest victim. Unclear as to whether anything untoward went on in that aerial challenge, but the big Oldham defender is uncompromising to say the least. Physio on, but Easter looks ok.

25mins - Oldham benefiting from having that extra man in midfield as Furman neatly finds Colbeck in some space left of centre. The former Bradford man takes a touch and tries the curler from 25 yards, but it's straight at Gueret.

19mins - Dons patient in possession around the Oldham half and they're going to have to be tonight as they try to pick this Latics lock. Randall eventually picks a nice little reverse for Jermaine Easter, but his effort from distance is dragged well off target. Gregan is warned for a foul on Chadwick.

15mins - Whitaker slips Guy into clear grass in behind as the Dons step up and the on-loan Doncaster wide-man is just caught by the flag. Very scrappy, but Oldham go on to create the best chance moments later as Guy tricks a yard on Doumbe down the right, whips a brilliant cross in at head height and Abbott heads wastefully over from five yards.

9mins - First thing that has become very obvious is that the Dons do not have the automatic out-ball of Wilbraham leading the line and neither Baldock or Easter is likely to provide that aerial presence. Their openings will have to be carefully engineered, and Oldham know it - dropping deep to allow the Dons possession around half-way.

5mins - A few neat early touches from the experienced Rae, who has been keen to get on the ball in these opening stages. Sean Gregan took the first opportunity to clatter into Baldock, having been terrorised by the Dons striker in the Latics' 6-2 defeat here last season.

7.46pm - KICK-OFF
We're off and running at stadiummk, with the Dons in all white and defending the Cowshed in the first half. Oldham, in luminous yellow shirts, black shorts and black socks, have a hundred-or-so Latics fans behind them in the corner to our left.

7.43pm - Teams are out of the tunnel at stadiummk - a warm and sunny April day replaced by a chilly April night with a cold breeze blowing into the Cowshed end of the stadium. Big ovation for the announcement of Baldock back in the starting line-up and we'll be underway in a few short moments.

7.40pm - So tonight should see the Dons continuing to experiment with this diamond-shaped midfield four, with Rae chosen as the man to hold things together in front of the back four. Paul Ince spoke on Monday of how well the system suits the talents of Luke Chadwick and his performance tonight will be important in behind Baldock and Easter. Not much height in the Dons attack this evening so it might have to be a less direct approach.

7.35pm - TEAM NEWS - Three changes for the Dons this evening, two of them rather surprising as 40-year-old first team coach Alex Rae is picked to start as the anchor in a diamond-shaped midfield while striker Sam Baldock returns from eight weeks out with a knee injury just in time to replace the suspended Aaron Wilbraham. Mathias Doumbe is also back from suspension, slotting into central defence alongside Sean O'Hanlon.

Fresh from their 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers on Saturday, Oldham make just one change to their starting eleven as Chris Taylor misses out with a thigh injury and Dean Furman comes in to replace him.

Sam Baldock returns for the Dons tonight after eight weeks out with a knee injury.

   

7.25pm - The clouds are gathering after a beautiful day in Milton Keynes, but they're far from gathering over MK Dons' season as Paul Ince's men look to finish with a flourish.

While the Dons have little riding on the next five games other than pride, their opponents tonight have a far bigger cause to fight for as they look to stave off the threat of relegation. Oldham would be considered among the outsiders to get dragged into the League 1 dogfight, but they're certainly not out of the woods yet and will not want to come away from stadiummk on the end of a defeat, especially given other games going on involving teams around them tonight.

They shouldn't be expecting a Dons side with their feet up though, as boss Ince has been quick to point out that his players are on trial for next season. Performances in the next five games could be the difference between being at stadiummk and not for some next term, while Ince has also pointed to the duty the Dons have to the other sides scrapping it out with the Latics at the foot of the table. The likes of Tranmere and Saturday's opponents Wycombe, who go head-to-head at Prenton Park this evening, will be looking for a favour or two.

Dons will be light on numbers in view of injury and suspension, but those Ince does have at his disposal will be gunning for victory from 7.45pm.
