Izale McLeod celebratesGareth Edds hit a sensational last-gasp equaliser as MK Dons snatched a late, late point at home to Lincoln.

Edds' 20-yard cracker came in the fourth minute of injury time after Lincoln had come from behind to lead with just seconds to go.

But the Australian midfielder, who has a history of late goals at The Ground, got the Dons out of jail after Martin Allen's side had missed two penalties in the match.

Izale McLeod's 20th-goal of the season got the Dons off to a flyer but he missed the first of the penalties before the break. Jamie Forrester brought Lincoln level with a spot-kick of his own just after the break before substitute Spencer Weir-Daley looked to have won the points with just four minutes to play.

Aaron Wilbraham missed a second spot kick but Edds' intervention, in front of the Sky cameras, meant a pulsating game ended with a point apiece.

Heavy rain over the weekend meant the game was under threat until an hour or so before kick-off but after much forking and a thorough pitch inspection, referee Russell Booth decided the game would go ahead.

Clive Platt underwent a late fitness test and was declared fit enough for the bench which, coupled with Paul Butler's suspension meant two changes for Allen's men. Edds came in at right back with Drissa Diallo switching to the centre and Paul Mitchell replaced Platt, with Wilbraham moving into attack.

Lincoln were struggling with the windy conditions and when Nat Brown's clearance went nowhere near as far as he would have liked, the Dons gave themselves a dream start. Wilbraham hooked the loose ball back into the penalty area and McLeod raced onto it, outfoxing Imps captain Paul Morgan to volley home his 20th goal of the season from 12 yards.

It was a goal that brought over 7,000 Dons fans to their feet as their treasured hitman came up with the goods on the big occassion.

The brute strength of Wilbraham and the speedy movement of McLeod were causing Lincoln problems and when the former was fouled 25-yards out, Lloyd Dyer came to the party. The little winger bent a fierce left-footed free-kick over the wall and only a nudge from the wind sent it the wrong side of the post.

Lincoln could barely get out of their own half but when the wind dropped enough for them to manage it, Ryan Amoo hit a superb shot on the half-volley from 25 yards that Lee Harper gathered at the second attempt.

It proved mererly a reprieve as the Dons set off on another attack, led by the meandering Dyer. Winding in and out through defenders on the left, he made his way into the box before seeing his cross deflected onto the post by Lincoln's Jeff Hughes.

Izale McLeodBut having shown his instinctive finishing so early on, McLeod's half took a turn for the worse on 35 minutes when he missed a golden chance to double the lead. Paul Mayo was ruled to have handled a cross from Jon-Paul McGovern but when McLeod stepped up to the plate, he put his spot-kick high and wide into the Cowshed.

Within five minutes of the restart, Lincoln were level as McLeod's nearest challenger in the goalscoring charts succeeded where the Dons man had failed. Hughes' cross from the left went all the way to the far post and as Amoo met it flush on the bounce, the ball cannoned into Dean Lewington who was harsly ruled to have handled it. In truth, he couldn't have done much to get out of the way but Forrester had no mercy and rammed his penalty straight down the middle.

Despite losing their lead so early in the half, the Dons were making a better fist of playing into the wind that Lincoln had, and might have retaken the initiative had McLeod not been incorrectly flagged as he ran onto Edds' through ball.

The chances were coming thick and fast as slips and mistakes became common in the conditions. Dyer went on another dangerous run down the left and when he cut the ball back to Andrews, the Dons skipper sidestepped Morgan before his goalbound shot was blocked on the line by Mayo.

McLeod was still showing boundless energy as he raced around harrying defenders, and only a sensational last ditch recovery from Morgan prevented him from going clear again.

Lloyd DyerWilbraham fired just wide from the edge of the box before Lincoln turned things around with six minutes to play. Having hardly been involved all night, Lee Frecklington headed a loose ball through to substitute Weir-Daley, who scurried away before slotting under Harper from eight yards.

The Dons refused to lay down and die and when Andrews chipped a clever ball into the box, there was only one man who was going to reach it. McLeod duly did and was bundled over by a desperate Morgan, who saw red for his professional foul. The penalty responsibilities were passed to Wilbraham, but he had little more luck, firing off the top of the bar to the home fans despair.

But they needn't have worried. As he proved when he saved the Dons from the drop with a late goal against Tranmere two years ago, Edds is the man for such occasions. When he pulled down Platt's cross and wound up his left foot, there was only one outcome.
