KARL: WIN WAS 100% DESERVED

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson reflected on a good week for the Club following Saturday's 2-1 win over Swindon at stadiummk.

After suffering his first managerial defeat at Carlisle seven days ago, Robinson watched his side bounce back with a vengeance against Blackpool in the Carling Cup in midweek, followed by a come-from-behind victory against the Robins.

Home-grown striker Sam Baldock was the Dons' hero, scoring twice in as many second-half minutes following Scott Cuthbert's soft opener on the stroke of half-time.

And Robinson felt the three points were richly deserved as his team made it four wins from five games this season.

He told the media after the game: "I'm not being disrespectful to Swindon, I have a lot of respect for their manager and they've moved mountains in the last 12 months, but I thought we 100 per cent deserved that.

"I'll age dramatically if the games remain that close, but this is a learning curve for us all, me included.

"If you don't do the right things from set pieces and forget your job, which some of them did for their goal, you get punished. Didi (Hamann) should have done better, but he shouldn't have been on his own.

"But I thought we played some very attacking, free-flowing football and it's great because Didi gives us that security in midfield. I thought Peter Leven was outstanding alongside him as well. Our shape was good today and that allowed us to break with pace and power.

"When we need legs late on we've got great subs we can bring on and I think this club has lacked that for a few years. It's great when I can turn to the bench and know people like Lewis Guy and Jabo Ibehre can affect the game.

"I'm buying paracetamol constantly because they all deserve to be playing, but it's a happy camp, a focused camp and a determined camp. This is another step in the right direction in what has been a good week."

Baldock's tally now stands at four goals in four starts during what has been an impressive opening to the season for the 21-year-old hitman.

Robinson is hoping to see off would-be suitors following Sam Baldock's excellent start to the new season.

And with the transfer window set to close this week, Robinson admits he'll breathe a sigh of relief when five o'clock rolls around on Tuesday.

He said: "I don't want to bring too much attention to Sam because I want to keep him, but let's just let that clock tick away please until the transfer window closes!

"He's an immense talent, but it's not right for him to leave here. He's playing great football, has staff that can improve his all-round game and he needs to play.

"He's like Michael Owen or Robbie Fowler, a cult hero the fans love because he's a local boy who's done well, but he's not played consistent football in his career and he needs that.

"With that under his belt, I've seen forwards go for two or three million that can't do what he can do. He is capable of being able to play in the Premier League within two or three years."
