Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo was a happy man after watching his side make it four league wins in a row with a 3-1 victory at 10-man Hartlepool.

But despite seeing his side further solidify their position among League 1's leading contenders, the Italian refuses to get carried away with his side's outstanding form.

Dons took advantage of Sam Collins' 25th-minute dismissal for a professional foul on Jemal Johnson and flew into a 2-0 lead courtesy of a rare goal from skipper Dean Lewington and Mark Wright's first of the season.

A Sean O'Hanlon own goal early in the second half gave Danny Wilson's men hope, but 17-year-old debutant sealed the points for the Dons in injury time.

Di Matteo said: "It was an excellent afternoon, I thought it was a great effort from the team, we deserved to win the game and it was a good performance as well.

"From the bench the sending off looked harsh but I thought there should have been a penalty on Wrighty just afterwards so it evens itself out.

"It's about time Dean scored and I think he enjoyed it. It was good for Wrighty to get a goal as well - he just needed a goal to unlock him this season and I'm sure he'll follow that up with quite a few.

"Hartlepool are a good team and we came here with a lot of respect for them, but even before they had a man sent off we showed we are a good team as well. We passed the ball well and created chances with confidence. To do that away from home shows good personality.

"It's nice that we've picked a few points and given the problems we have had with injuries the players have done very well."
