Dons assistant manager Ray Mathias congratulated his players on their Double-winning season after a final day draw against Morecambe.

Michael Twiss earned Morecambe a point in the second half when he cancelled out Aaron Wilbraham's opener, on the day the Dons celebrated winning the League 2 title.

And Mathias said that while the performance itself was a little sloppy, the players deserved the chance to now celebrate an historic campaign.

He said: "When you see what's happened out on the pitch today it's fantastic. You can go a long time in your career winning nothing and all of a sudden you get it so it's amazing.

"I'm delighted for the players, I can't speak highly enough of them. The work they put into training, they've listened to us, done everything we've asked of them and been absolutely brilliant.

"I felt we were a bit sloppy throughout the game, we didn't pass the ball as well as we can or switch play like we can.

"The response we got at half-time was good. We had a couple of chances at the end when we should have killed the off, the game got a bit end-to-end and was very open.

"It was a typical end-of-season performance but we're champions which is all that matters, and we're five points clear of the team in second."
