NO HELP FROM HEAVENS FOR INCE
Dons manager Paul Ince says his team didn't get any help from above in the goalless draw with Hereford at stadiummk.
But despite not being mathematically sure of a place in the top three, the Dons boss was confident enough to acknowledge automatic promotion to League 1.
Short of a massive turnaround in goal difference from the final few games of the season, Tuesday night's stalemate against the Bulls should be enough to see the Dons into English football's third tier next term.
Indeed, victory at Stockport this coming Saturday coupled with a defeat for Peterborough at Hereford would see the Dons crowned champions this weekend.
And after a dominant display from his team against a rival from the top three, Ince only had divine intervention as an explanation as to why victory, and absolute certainty of promotion, wasn't seized.
He said: "I think we deserved to win tonight, it was one-way traffic from the first whistle.
"They're third in the table and they've hardly had a shot but we've had enough chances to win it so we're disappointed.
"We were talking about inches tonight - Lloyd put some fantastic crosses in, Wrighty had one cleared off the line and Lloyd should have scored from the chance he had.
"God wasn't on our side so hopefully he will be at Stockport on Saturday.
"I think we all know we're promoted but the lads want the title.
"As far as I'm concerned, we're the best team in this league and the lads are so hungry to finish top.
"We wanted to do it tonight in front of our own fans but hey, that's life."
