Peterborough United v MK Dons

Midfielder Alan Navarro says Dons fans aren't the only ones looking forward to Tuesday's League 1 clash with local rivals Peterborough.

Because as well as having the chance to get Saturday's defeat to Carlisle out of their systems, tonight's rearranged trip to London Road will allow the Dons to cross swords with a more-than-familiar opponent.

Having both been promoted from League 2 last season, the Dons and the Posh have shared an extremely healthy rivalry over the last few years.

And having both made an impressive start to life in League 1 this term, both are eyeing back-to-back promotions to the Championship.

Navarro was due to miss the original frost-hit fixture two weeks ago through suspension. But the game's postponement means the combative midfielder will be available tonight and he expects it to be as competitive as ever.

He said: "The players look forward to the games against Peterborough as much as the fans do. It's like it's become a good rivalry over the last couple of years, like a little derby, and that gives you an extra bit of incentive to get a result.

"I've only experienced it this season and last season, but the lads tell me the games have always been very competitive. I'm sure it'll be no different tonight.

"It's not normally a bad-tempered game, it's just extremely competitive. Every time we play against them we want to beat them, and I've no doubt they'll be feeling the same."

Saturday's defeat at Carlisle, which saw the Cumbrians reverse a 2-0 half-time deficit, was the first in six games for Roberto Di Matteo's men and their first away defeat since September.

But despite not doing themselves justice in the second period at Brunton Park, Navarro says it will all be forgotten about if the result is right at London Road.

He said: "We'll be looking to put Saturday's result out of our minds as soon as possible and if we can get a good result at Peterborough tonight that will help us do that.

"We felt like we dropped three points at Carlisle. Everyone was disappointed, embarrassed really, at the way we went about the second half. It wasn't the kind of performance we've been producing away from home this season and we want to put it right.

"Having a game a few days after does give us the chance to get Saturday's game out of our systems. We've got Peterborough to focus on now and if we can get a good result there then Saturday will all be forgotten about."

Advanced away tickets for Tuesday night's game at Peterborough will be on sale from the MK Dons Box Office until midday.
