PETER LEVEN'S HELP FOR HEROES

Posted on: Thu 12 Nov 2009

MK Dons midfielder Peter Leven has thrown his support behind Britain's Armed Forces in a unique fundraising challenge for Help For Heroes.

Proud Brit Peter has vowed to make a donation to help the nation's wounded soldiers every time MK Dons score a goal during the 2009/10 season, and he's set up a website so that Dons fans can sponsor him along the way.

Help for Heroes

After being touched by the stories of Britain's brave men and women injured in combat around the world, the Glasgow-born Dons favourite approached Club officials about playing his part in making a difference.

And the former Rangers man, 25, has now laid down a challenge he hopes will raise much-needed funds and awareness for Help for Heroes - the Football League's Official Charity Partner for the 2009/10 season.

Peter said: "I've pledged to donate five pounds every time the boys score a goal this season so hopefully we'll all have our shooting boots on and we can raise a decent amount of cash.

"As a British Citizen I've got unbelievable admiration for all the men and women in our Armed Forces, who put their lives at stake all over the world for the good of our country.

"Help for Heroes has done some great work in looking after those injured in combat and the Football League choosing it as their official charity partner gives us all a chance to make a difference.

Leven has vowed to donate £5.00 to Help for Heroes for every goal the Dons score this season.

"I'd urge anyone who is proud of the work of our Armed Forces, whether they support MK Dons or not, to pledge whatever they can and we'll try to do our bit on the pitch."

Pete's challenge will see him donate £5.00 to Help for Heroes for every goal MK Dons score in all first team competitions during the 2009/10 season. With Paul Ince's men having already bagged 19 in their 15 games so far, that's already £95.00 in the pot, and Dons fans will be hoping there's plenty more to come!

You can join Peter in his challenge by logging onto www.justgiving.com/peterleven and pledging whatever you can. You can keep an eye on Peter's progress throughout the season and we'll bring you updates on his challenge right here on mkdons.com.
