MATCH REPORT FOR DISABILITY TEAMS

Posted on: Tue 15 Nov 2011

The U12s

Our boys played two games against Marlow, both of which they won well. In the first encounter James scored all four goals in a 4-1 win and in the second game James scored the opener with Reece adding a further two goals to end up 3-0 winners. All the boys played really well, with Solomon, Harry and Willoughby all making their first appearance in a competitive match. We may also have discovered a new goalkeeper in the club. Willoughby made his goalkeeping debut in the second game, playing with the fearless disregard of a pro' he made a number of first class saves to keep his first clean sheet.

The U16s

The team were matched against Oxford City Blues and Red 10, playing each team twice. Our lads got their season off in cracking style by beating Red 10 9-0. Next up they played Oxford City Blues and played out a well fought and very close game ending up on the wrong side of a 3-2 score line. The second game against Red 10 found our opponents with a much better organised defence than in the first encounter and our forwards had a much more challenging task in finding the back of the net. However their determination to score won through and at the final whistle the score was 3-0 to the Dons.

Their final game was the return with Oxford City Blues; again this was a very tight affair in which both teams played some good football that was appreciated by everyone watching. Like the first game the score indicated how close a game it was but the Oxford City Blues once again finished on top winning 2-1. As the season progresses I'm sure our matches against Oxford City Blues will continue to be the same close affairs but with the Dons winning as many as their opponents. Our goal scorers on the day were Matt with 8 goals, Danny 3, Ryan 2 and Gee 2. Well played to everyone, I'm sure you will be looking forward to playing Oxford City Blues back in MK.

Adult Conference

Playing as MK Dons B their opponents were: MK Dons A, Northampton Town, Oxford City and Red 10. First up was Northampton Town, our boys' nemesis in their younger day. But this was a different Northampton team and the boys settled into the game quite quickly. The game was settled by a single but spectacular first goal in their new league. Dan, out on the right wing, some 10 yards into Northampton's half crossed superbly to find Curtis' right foot, for him, showing all the confidence in the world, to volley home from 5 yards.

The next two games were against Oxford City, the boys winning 4-0, Dan 3 and James 1 and then a convincing win over MK Dons A, 7-0. The goal scorers were Greg 5, Dan and Curtis one each.

It was apparent from watching the other teams playing each other that Red 10 are a solid, well disciplined side with the direction coming from their defensive centre midfield. Like MK Dons B they also won their first three games by very similar scores to our own; the final game of the day was going to be worth watching. And so it turned out. The two teams, both well coached, showed their determination to win with both sets of forwards and midfield working their way up and down the pitch in search of the breakthrough. At this stage Red 10 were looking the likeliest to score and they did just that, with no surprise, a well worked pass from their defensive centre midfield found an open forward for a 1-0 lead. Our boys were quick to respond and Greg was unlucky not to score from a well hit shot from 12 yards that crashed against the crossbar and out for a goal kick.

The Dons were allowed back into the match by an unfortunate own goal from Red 10 who were under pressure from our forwards and mid field. As the game continued the Dons were gaining the upper hand and were rewarded with a second goal from Greg who scored from close range, thanks to great work and an assist from James. It was then the turn of Red 10 to take control as our boys began to tire a little. Some desperate all out defending kept the Red 10 at bay but eventually the pressure was too great and with what was just about the last kick of the match Red 10 equalised to make it 2-2. Neither side deserved to lose; and as was agreed after the game we had witnessed a 'proper' game of football from two well matched teams. With a further five encounters with Red 10 to come this season we should be watching some exciting football.
