Mike Dove's Youth team completed their season on Saturday with an excellent 4-3 win against a strong Forest side.

A hat-trick for Sam Baldock and a goal from Liam Kelly were enough to see off the Tricky Trees despite a strong second half comeback.

Baldock's first goal came in the 5th minute when he collected an under-hit backpass before beating the 'keeper with ease. Four minutes later, the Dons striker doubled the lead from close range after good work from Oliver Thorne.

Sam was again involved in the third goal - his shot from a neat cutback by Tom Battams was cleverly re-directed into the net by Kelly to give the Dons a 3-0 lead at the break.

Within three minutes of the re-start, the home side had a goal back as their midfield playmaker collected the ball from deep and ran to the edge of the box unchallenged before rifling the ball home.

However, the three-goal cushion was restored in the 63rd minute as Baldock collected a free kick from Ted Day to complete his hat-trick with an assured finish.

Forest continued to press and added two goals in the last 25 minutes, but the Dons defence stood firm as the side held on to claim the win.

After the game, Mike Dove was clearly pleased to see this young side claim a win: "We had an excellent first half, giving ourselves a great lead at the break" said Dove, "But maybe we were a little complacent in the second period with the three goal lead.

"It was good to see Sam Baldock score three goals and it looks promising for next year's Under 18 team - I'm certainly looking forward to working with the group."
