Mike Dove's Under-18 side completed their Academy League fixtures for the season with a tough match at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday against a Leicester City side aiming to win Group B of the Academy League.

From the outset it was clear that Leicester would take the game to the Dons and duly took the lead after ten minutes. A cross from the right wing found its way through the box to the back post before being cut back to the Foxes' striker who had time and space in the area to guide the ball home.

The young Dons continued to work hard despite falling behind and deservedly equalised in the 27th minute when Baldock raced onto a through pass from Sam Collins to slot the ball home.

Despite Leicester then dominating the game in search of a second goal, it was Baldock who doubled his tally for the day on the stroke of half time to give the Dons the lead at the break, getting between the two central defenders to collect a long ball from Stephane Koffi before beating the 'keeper with ease.

It had been a tough first half for the Dons, but worse was to come in the second period as the home side pressed forward in search of the win.

Within a minute of the re-start, the scores were level when a passage of neat interplay allowed the Foxes' striker to shoot from just inside the area and drive the ball under Laurie Walker in the Dons goal.

Leicester then created more chances, striking the crossbar and having a shot cleared off the line before eventually re-taking the lead in the 65th minute through a spectactular overhead kick.

Ten minutes later and the Dons deficit was doubled when a cross from the left was met by a looping header which found its way into the net despite the efforts of Walker.

The scoring was completed deep into stoppage time when play broke down in midfield allowing the home side to counter attack at pace and catch the Dons off guard to run in the fifth goal.

Director of Youth & Community Mike Dove was obviously disappointed with the result after the game but still pleased with his side's performance: "Our players worked hard and showed very good commitment but were beaten some a very strong, organised and determined side.

"Leicester are probably the fittest and most disciplined side we have faced this season and it is easy to see why they are challenging to win the group and make the end of season play-offs.

"However, there are definite positives to take from this game, such as the experience for the players involved that comes with playing in such an excellent stadium."

Dons line-up: Walker, Williams, Collins, Day, Murphy, Nash, Kent, Battams, Baldock, England, Koffi (Kelly). Subs not used: Flood, Mitchell-Coop, Thorne, Muzsnyai.
