Ross Morley vs Luton Res 180Mike Dove's team followed up their crushing 5-1 win against Southampton with a superb victory on Saturday over no less a team than Arsenal.

Two strikes from Sam Baldock in addition to goals from Jamie England and Ross Morley (pictured right), gave the Dons their third win in a row against top-class opposition.

Despite the Dons making a bright start to the game, it was Arsenal who took the lead after ten minutes when a cross from the left was slammed home by an unmarked striker.

The Dons refused to lay down having gone behind and deservedly levelled the scores in the 26th minute with Baldock heading home a corner from England.

Seven minutes later, however, the Gunners re-took the lead through a precise finish from the edge of the area.

With half time approaching, the young Dons continued to work hard and were rewarded with their second equaliser moments before the break. Stephane Koffi glided past one defender on the wing but was hauled down in the box for a clear penalty, which England duly converted.

After the interval, the game continued at a high tempo with openings at either end. England was again involved as the Dons took the lead after 51 minutes, cutting the ball back from the byline to find Morley, who slotted the ball home from 20 yards out.

Three minutes later and the scores were again level, with Arsenal's striker getting up well to beat Ryan Flood and convert a right wing cross.

However, within a minute the Dons were back in front with Baldock capitalising on a defensive error from a Tom Battams cross to score what proved to be the winner.

From there on in, the Dons held on for another excellent victory, despite Arsenal changing shape and pressing forward in search of the equaliser.

Director of Youth and Community Mike Dove was obviously happy with the result: "This was an excellent game and I am very pleased with the concentration and character of our players against a very good Arsenal team who showed great movement both on and off the ball.

"We maintained great levels of work rate and commitment and played some good quality football ourselves to deservedly win the game."
