The Under-18s went down to an unlucky defeat in south-east London against a Charlton team for whom fortune smiled favourably on them in the goalscoring department.

A disputed goal-line decision gave them their opening goal, and a wind-assisted cross-cum-shot doubled their tally as the Dons failed to convert any of the several chances they created during the game.

As the half went on the Dons kept their grip, and central defender Kieran Murphy went close on three occasions with headers from set-pieces around the half-hour mark Sam Baldock was then tackled well when in with a chance of scoring, but just when it looked like matters would be level at half-time the home 'netted' a controversial goal on 43 minutes. An effort from a corner crashed down from the bar, was hacked clear by the Dons defence, but after a couple of consultations with his linesman the referee awarded a goal, even though both teams had initially carried on playing.

There was still time for Jamie England to go close before the referee blew for half-time, but as the second half got under way the Dons took a short time to recover from going a highly-disputed goal down.

After a quiet ten minutes Baldock and Ross Morley both had shots blocked, and on 60 minutes Joe Howe hit the bar after Adam Kent had helped on a Morley corner.

The home side then capitalised on that bad luck five minutes later when a wind-assisted effort deceived keeper Ryan Flood to give them a scarcely deserved two-goal lead.

Left back James Nash should have pulled one back for the Dons when he headed over from a good position on 75 minutes, and in the last ten minutes Morley and Sam Collins both had shots blocked as the visitors finally went down in a game which suffered disappointing performances from the match officials.
