New recruit Joe Walsh says the opportunity to join the Dons was one he just couldn’t turn down.
“I’m really happy to be here,” Walsh told mkdons.com. “This is a big club and things are going in the right direction for sure.
“This was a move I couldn’t really turn down and as soon as I heard of the interest, I just wanted to get down here and get it done. This is a club that is moving forward and I just really wanted to be a part of it.”
Walsh’s switch to stadiummk sees him link up with two familiar faces from his time at Crawley in Richie Barker and Kyle McFadzean – the latter of which he used to live with in Sussex.
“It will help knowing Richie and Kyle - it will be much easier getting to know everybody else because of that.
“I’ve been speaking to Kyle (McFadzean) all season and he’s been saying how good it is here. I lived with him for a year at Crawley so I do know him quite well - he’s a very funny guy!”
The capture of Walsh bolsters a Dons defence which has already kept an impressive 19 clean sheets this season and the Wales Under-21 international knows he’ll have to remain patient for his chance to play.
“At the moment we’re doing well so the gaffer’s told me I’m going to have to bide my time before getting into the team. I’ve just got to work hard in training for the rest of the season and hopefully I’ll get some games in.
“I’ll be ready to come in when I’m called upon - I’m always ready.”
