Preview: Academy Challenge Match

14 May 2014

MK Dons U15s will go head-to-head with their Chelsea counterparts at stadiummk this evening (k.o. 7pm).

The Academy Challenge Matches are the perfect opportunity for the youngsters to step up and perform on the big stage, while it also allows the supporters to have a look into the future of the Football Club.
U15s coach Stephen Kirby said: “These occasions are valuable for all of the players, not least those who progress further beyond the schoolboy and youth team programme and hopefully into the first team in the future.

“As previous showcase fixtures have shown here at the Academy our players play with a patient possession based ‘passing game’ which allows our players to learn and develop their skills and be comfortable on the ball in varied scenarios in all areas of the pitch.
“Consequences of this style and the age of our players is that they will be taken out of their comfort zones and put under pressure which will lead to mistakes being made during
executions. Your appreciation of both the player’s intentions and outcome of executions is valuable for their continued development.”

The Dons’ squad will consist of players aged between 13 and 15, all of whom are at different stages in their development, but with the same aim of progressing through the Club’s schoolboy programme into the youth team and beyond.

Tickets are priced at just £3 for adults and £1 for U18s, with the money from sales being pumped straight back into the Academy.

Programmes will also be available on the night from the Box Office and on the Concourse, priced at just 50p.

Tickets are on sale now from the MK Dons Box Office at stadiummk and thecentre:mk or by calling 01908 622900.
