MK Dons Under-18s ended the season on a high note after coming from behind to beat West Ham United 4-2 during an eventful match at Woughton on the Green.
A first half goal from returning captain Jordan Ivey-Ward, followed by an Awadh Ahmed penalty and a Mason Spence double ensured maximum points for Mike Dove's side.
The Dons started on the front foot and were having the better of the early part of the game, and they made their dominance pay as they took the lead just after the half-hour. Ivey-Ward, skippering the side on his return, finished nicely with a half-volley from the edge of the penalty area.
The Dons took a 1-0 lead into the dressing rooms, however West Ham stunned their opponents with a two goal burst in as many minutes in the second half.
After nice build-up on the edge of the box from the Hammers, the ball found a way through to Matthias Fanimo, whose first time effort along the ground rolled into the net to level proceedings on 58 minutes.
Moments later, Tony Carr's visitors stunned the Dons by taking the lead with captain Elliot Lee finishing calmly inside the area when well placed.
The Dons did not let their heads drop however, as they kept on battling and were awarded a penalty with twenty minutes remaining. Ahmed stepped up and sent keeper Larkins to the right, before stroking the ball into the left corner of the net, to square proceedings.
Dove's side had their tails up and retook the lead in the match five minutes later when the ball found its way to Spence just inside the penalty area, who sent a beautiful right-footed effort with dip and curl into the bottom corner of the net.
The hosts then sealed the game in stoppage time with a goal on the break. The ball found a way through to Spence who ran into the box, rounded the advancing keeper Larkins and finished in composed fashion into an empty net.
Afterwards Director of Youth Dove said: "You will always get goals with us, because of the way we want to play football. We like to get forward, and so we accept that we will concede goals.
"West Ham were never going to less us dictate play the way we did in the first half and we just had a little lapse during a 10 to 15 minute period in the second half. We conceded two goals very quickly but got back into our stride, went again and were excellent.
"Across the team we were great. I want to say a big well done to all the second years. A lot of them have played their last game today. They were tremendous and I'm very proud and pleased for them today.
"Finally, I want to say a big thank you to all the support everyone gives the academy, from Karl Robinson and John Gorman and one of our directors John Cove who came to watch and also to all the supporters. Here at the academy we are proud of what we have got and we like to show it off."
