The Dons and Capital One combined for an April Fools joke on Wednesday morning.
The Football League supposedly ratified the move, proposed by cup sponsor Capital One, to see celebration zones labelled ‘Selfie Spots’. These were to be installed in all four corners of any stadium hosting a fixture in the 2015/16 competition, and would be positioned to give fans a starring role in the snaps.
The innovation was apparently trialled behind closed doors at stadiummk, with Dons striker Giorgio Rasulo all smiles as he put the ‘Selfie Spots’ through their paces.
Following the successful trial, the number of rule changes in the frame were:
- Players will be allowed play with a mobile phone held in a specially designed armband
- ‘Goal of the Month’ being scrapped for ‘Selfie Celebration of the Month’
- Every selfie celebration will see one minute added to injury time at the end of each half
- Any opposition player ‘photo-bombing’ a selfie will be shown a yellow card
