Robinson salutes ‘strong’ display

28 January 2015

Karl Robinson was in positive mood after his side moved to within two points of top spot in Sky Bet League 1 on Tuesday night.

Robinson’s men drew 1-1 at in-form Scunthorpe United, with Kyle McFadzean’s header cancelling out Tom Hopper’s opener at Glanford Park.

“It was a strong performance and I don’t think the players could have done much more than be a little more clinical in the final third,” he told MK Dons Player.

“I think we probably deserved to win it late on but you don’t always get what you deserve in football.

“People might look at the error from Dave but he’s been one of players of the season, so there’s no blame at his door whatsoever.

“It looks a worse result because we could have gone top and I understand that but it’s about accumulating points – it’s not about where you are now, it’s about where you are in three months time.

“You’ve got to give them credit, they are a rejuvenated side under Mark Robins who, alongside his staff, are doing a good job here.”

He added: “It’s another point in the right direction and we are only two points off top now. All of the players are together, positive and looking forward to forthcoming games.”

The 34-year-old concluded by providing a message to the 147 supporters who made the journey to North Lincolnshire.

He said: “The fans know what they mean to me and my group of players – hopefully we are doing you proud, I think we are. Your support will continue to be invaluable to us.”
