Robbo thrilled for international trio

25 March 2015

Karl Robinson is looking forward to seeing what part his Northern Ireland internationals have to play in the friendly with Scotland tonight.

Will Grigg, Ben Reeves and Lee Hodson joined up with their national team on Monday ahead of this evening's Vauxhall International Challenge Match at Hamden Park. Michael O’Neill’s side also face Finland in a Euro 2016 qualifier this weekend.

“It will be a really good week for them,” Robinson told the local media. “I know they won't let themselves down or this football club down and they will try and do their best for their country.

"We just want them to go on and express themselves. It won't be anything alien to them going from League One football to international football because of the preparation we go through.

“A lot of our players through the way we play will find it relatively easy to cope with continental football - the ball retention and being patient in and out of possession."

He continued: “It will be something they won't forget for the rest of their lives. (Hamden Park) is a stadium that has been graced by some of the world's greatest footballers and hopefully we can have our players playing in that game.

"Hopefully they will bring back that experience because that will only add to our squad. We always want the best for all of our players and ultimately that will mean they will perform better for us when we ask them to put shirt on."

Northern Ireland’s clash with Scotland will be live on Sky Sports 5 from 7.30pm. Fans can also stay up to date throughout the night on the Dons’ official twitter - @MKDonsFC - which will be providing updates direct from Hamden Park.
