Robbo: Players deserve plaudits

22 April 2015

Karl Robinson was keen to praise to players after they maintained just a one-point gap to second place.

Robinson oversaw a convincing 3-0 success over Doncaster Rovers at stadiummk on Tuesday night – a seventh win in eight games, the other was drawn - to stay very close to the final automatic promotion place, which is currently occupied by Preston North End.

“I thought the players were excellent in the way they performed. Our game management was superb from back to front and I think they deserve tremendous credit once again.

“This group is surpassing what we thought of them – they are better. This is the best crop of players this Club has ever had. I don’t mean to upset anybody, frustrate anybody or say anything that are fans don’t like but I look at the squad and they’ve got tremendous heart, hunger, desire, quality and youth to go and compete a higher level for many years to come. Keith might have something to say about that!”

He added: “Whilst you are winning, sometimes it’s easy to neglect fans but they stay, they applaud, they appreciate. The connection between the players and fans is what great clubs are built on – a rapport.”

Both of Robinson’s first two subs – Dean Bowditch and Carl Baker – scored one and two goals respectively, but the 34-year-old said he has faith in all of his squad.

“People can say that I’ve made the right subs but how can I make a bad one when the bench is as strong as it is?”
