Robbo all smiles after success

18 March 2015

Karl Robinson says it was nice to put smiles back on faces after Tuesday’s convincing success at Oldham Athletic.

Robinson’s Dons returned to winning ways with a dominant performance and a 3-1 triumph at the SportsDirect.com Park – a result which saw the men from MK1 move 13 points clear in the Sky Bet League 1 play-off places.

“It’s nice to win a game again and have a smile on our faces,” Robinson told MK Dons Player. “I’m really pleased with how everybody performed and scoring three goals away from home is something we haven’t done for a while.

“I really believe we can move forward from this now. We go back home on Saturday and I want to lose that little bit of nervousness that had been creeping in. Hopefully this result will keep people buoyant and there will be a bit more confidence flying around the place.”

Tuesday’s win came on the back of a hard-earned draw at Walsall on the weekend and the Dons boss believes that result provided the impetus for his side to beat the Latics and make it four points from two road games.

“I feel this game was won because of our match on Saturday as it gave us a platform to build upon. It’s hard when you go through difficult times and it tests you as a man – the players really responded.

“We’ve taken four points from two road games at a difficult time and I think it’s a tremendous return. It was disappointing to see all the top four won again but we can’t have anything - we’ve won and that’s all we can control.”

Sixty-six fans made the 332-mile round trip to back the Dons on one of their longest journeys of the season and Robinson was keen to pay tribute to both those supporters and the ones cheering along at home.

“Thanks also to the fans that came. Seeing fans coming and supporting the team means so much to us and we’re thankful for all the continued support whether it’s at home listening on the radio or here in the stands.”

Robinson's men are back in on Saturday when they take on Notts County at stadiummk for Family Fun Day - tickets are priced at just £10 for adults and £1 for under-18s.
