Powell eager to get season started

With just over a week until the new season gets underway, winger Daniel Powell is just eager to get through the next two games without any injuries.


Tickets for Saturday’s friendly with Brackley Town will only be available to buy on the gate at St James Park, priced at £5 for adults and FREE for under-18s.

“We also know what Leicester are going to be like on Monday. They haven’t lost a game for a while, I was reading the other day so they will be tough as well.”

“Brackley are a non-League side but we played them last year and I think we nicked it late on. They were really good, so we know what challenge we face.

He added: “Everyone still needs more match fitness and we’ve got the two games left to get back to 100 percent.

“This time last year I got injured so the main thing for me is just to keep fit and keep my confidence high,” Powell told MK Dons Player. “The best thing to do is just put it to the back of my mind and get to the start of the season which I can’t wait for.”

The 23-year-old sustained ankle ligament damage in training just days before the start of the 2013/14 campaign, an injury which ruled him out of action until late September.
