MK Dons have signed attacker Josh Murphy on a season-long loan from Premier League side Norwich City.
The 20-year-old will train with his new team-mates on Friday and could be included in the squad for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash at Reading.
Karl Robinson told mkdons.com: “Josh is someone I known about for a long time. He was instrumental in Norwich winning the FA Youth Cup a couple of years back and he’s played plenty of times in the Championship and Premier League since then.
“Neil Adams trusted him to play in the top flight and that says a lot about Josh. He’s got electric pace and quality - I’m looking forward to working with him.”
The 34-year-old continued: “We are still looking for another striker but this allows us to rotate and use Powelly or Bowds up top in the meantime.”
Despite his tender age, Murphy has played 34 times at Championship and Premier League level, as well as being capped at England U18, U19 and U20 levels.
Josh joined Norwich as an U12 and worked his way up through the Canaries’ Academy, winning the FA Youth Cup in 2012/13 in the process. He scored in the final success over Chelsea.
He was rewarded with a first-team debut at the age of just 18 and he made quite an impact, scoring a stunning goal to start a thrilling comeback as the Canaries beat Watford 3-2 in the Capital One Cup.
Murphy made a further 12 appearances that season including nine times in the top flight against the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.
He started last season in fine form for Norwich, scoring three goals in his first six outings including a brace in the Capital One Cup win over Crawley Town.
Championship appearances continue to flow for Murphy with the Canaries and Wigan Athletic, with whom he joined on loan in February and made five appearances for towards the back end of last season.
