Melissa makes England squad

9 September 2015

MK Dons Girls Centre of Excellence player Melissa Filis has been called up by England to the first Under-15 National Performance Camp of the 2015/16 season.

Melissa becomes the fourth Girls Centre of Excellence players to have received international recognition this calendar year, following in the footsteps of Abbie Roberts and Amelia Hazard, who both represented England in 2015, and Erin Davies who was selected for the Wales National Development Squad.

Able to play in a variety of roles, and equally as comfortable in and out of possession, Melissa’s call-up is thoroughly deserved, according to her coaches.

Coach Chris Pink said: “I am delighted and extremely proud of Melissa and her achievement. She is a credit to herself and the Centre of Excellence. It just goes to show that hard work and dedication pays off.”

Melissa has been with the Centre of Excellence for three years and continues the international exposure the pathway has been receiving over the last few years.

Everyone at the Centre of Excellence and MK Dons Sport and Education Trust congratulates Melissa and wishes her good luck at the camp.
