The Dons need to use the victory over Sheffield Wednesday as a ‘stepping stone’, according to goalscorer Nicky Maynard.
The victory moved the men from MK1 out of the bottom three in the Sky Bet Championship and Maynard now wants the side to build on the triumph.
“It was a deserved three points,” Maynard told MK Dons PlayerHD. “We came into the game full of confidence after the (Ipswich Town) game. The lads put in a great performance and hopefully we can use this as a stepping stone to go on to bigger and better things.”
“I’m thankful I got enough another chance to prove what I can do and I’m glad I took it. Hopefully there’s more to come now.”
“In one of my first starts against Charlton I got through in a similar position and didn’t score. It’s been doing my head in ever since because I always expect myself to score when I’m one on one with the goalkeeper.
Maynard took his second-half strike well, beating the offside trap and controlling Samir Carruthers’ through-ball before composing himself and finishing into the bottom right corner – it was a finish the striker was delighted with.
