Keith Andrews says he can take positives but also some learning points from Wednesday’s Final Third Development League opener.
“I thought there were some positives,” Andrews told mkdons.com. “There were good points to take but there are points that need to be worked on too - there are lessons to be learned by all.
“In the first half we were decent and I thought the lads competed and created chances. Some of the senior players were fantastic – Nicky Maynard’s attitude was outstanding. I thought Callum (Brittain) played very well at right back too.
“These games can go one way or another and I felt we needed to be a little bit more competitive in the second half. It can be difficult because you’ve got young players coming in who haven’t been able to train with the first team players.”
He continued: “It was a tough test for the young players but I thought Lee Hodson, at the back, marshalled them well.”
