Manager Karl Robinson believes his Dons side has the ability to chase down the top two in the second half of the season.
“We’re in a good position,” the Dons boss told the media. “If we win the next two, we go top – although I’d rather go top in the last weekend in April!
“We do need to turn the screw now. It’s going to be a big three to four weeks because during that period we play everybody. We have the players, staff and people around the place to really go and compete.
“I’m really proud of the players. They have been magnificent and there has been a togetherness that I haven’t seen since I’ve been here.
The Dons’ early success in 2014/15 has been largely down to their performances, and in more recent cases, their results against the top teams in the division – Robinson’s side have beaten the likes of Swindon Town and Sheffield United as well as taken points off Preston North End.
“For us to go to Bristol and perform really well and then to beat Sheffield United there and get a good result against Preston - it just makes it harder for them coming here,” Robinson added.
“I think the Manchester United game showed we didn’t get stage fright. The world was watching, not just Milton Keynes, and we can draw on that in the future.
He continued: “We’re ready. The motto under Rangers’ badge says ‘Ready’ and it might not be a bad idea putting it under ours for the rest of the season.”
Robinson's men take on Barnsley this Saturday at stadiummk, where season ticket holders can bring along two friends for just £20.
