Karl Robinson believes the Dons will learn valuable lessons from the challenges of this season, as well as the difficult experience of losing their place in the division.
“We're bitterly disappointed and that feeling won't go away for a long time but while it's difficult to take, we have to bounce back,” the 35-year-old told the media.
“We could have done an awful lot of things better so we’ve got to learn from this season. We've had to accept that certain aspects of what we've done this year haven't been right and make sure they don’t happen again.”
He continued: “I'm very driven. I'm 35 and I've probably had more experiences than most others my age – I've already had a promotion, play-offs and relegation.
“I won't let my career go backwards and the chairman won't ever let the club go backwards – we'll only be better for this experience.”
One aspect of the Dons’ season which Robinson and his staff are reviewing and looking to improve upon is recruitment and the boss reveals discussions on potential outgoings and incomings for 2016/17 are already underway.
“I'd like to think there will be fundamental changes because we need to freshen the group up. It's important we get it right, though, and we find people who can drive us forward.
“This is a very important time and over the next four weeks we’ll have some big decisions to make. I'm meeting with every player and they'll all know what my thought process is – I have to ask questions of certain players and I need to know what they're made of.
“We can develop young people here as we've got some of the best in the business but we need to go out and get the right players.”
