Karl: Positive point

Karl Robinson saw Saturday's draw with Leyton Orient on Saturday as an encouraging one, given his side’s past record at the Matchroom Stadium.

The Dons had lost their last two meetings with the O's in East London, but stopped that run with only their second goalless draw of the season and Robinson saw cause for optimism in his side’s performance, especially as they collected their second straight clean sheet in the league.

“It was a very solid performance,” he told MK Dons Player. “It’s a point away from home against Leyton Orient, who are a side that work hard. We’ve been beat here the last two years so to nick a point on the road is positive.

“I didn’t think we played great and we weren’t at our fluent best. In the first 10 minutes we looked really good but from then on we came back off it a little bit and they got back into the game.

“But that’s now had two straight clean sheets in the league, away at Yeovil Town and Leyton Orient, and that’s a big thing for me. With that and the Yeovil game, we’ve earned four more than we normally do.”

He continued: “I thought the whole team played well, it’s difficult to pull out one player that stood out. They all worked their socks off, pressing right and working off the ball. We looked strong as a group which we haven’t done here in recent years.”

Just over 700 fans made the journey down from Milton Keynes on Saturday, the second highest away following of the season, and Robinson was quick to mention the travelling support after the game.

He added: “I thought our fans were magnificent, they were very vocal. The fans were strong, the players were strong and it’s a good point that we can build on.”
