Karl focuses on next season

Manager Karl Robinson is eager to turn his attention straight to next year after his side finished the 2013/14 season with a defeat at home to Leyton Orient.

And although the team secured their fourth-straight top ten finish despite the defeat, boss Robinson is eager to close the chapter on this season and look ahead to the coming months as he aims to re-build his squad in time for August.

Speaking to MK Dons Player, he said: “(Leyton Orient) deserved to win. We looked like a patched up team which is what we are. The reality is we’re just not at the races at the moment.

“It’s the end of what’s been a long season but in a weird way I’ve enjoyed it. It’s been the coming of age for some players but the nail in the coffin for others. I’m going away very clear on what I want for next year.

“It’s important we do what’s right over the next few months because we’re in a state of transition. We had a wonderful team for three years and the team we built at the beginning of this season was competitive but unfortunately we’ve just had too many injuries to be able to sustain that amount of quality.

“But we’ve still managed to finish tenth with the amount of injuries we’ve had and so I know if I can add the players I want and get back the players I want back fit, back fit, we’ll be a top, top team in this League.”
