Karl Robinson admits Saturday was as difficult a moment as he’s had as manager of the Dons, but is confident that the Club will come back stronger.
The men from MK1 saw their stay in the Sky Bet Championship come to an end after defeat to Brentford at stadiummk and while the Dons boss revealed his disappointment, he insists the Football Club will only learn from the experience.
“It’s as difficult a day as I’ve ever had at the Football Club,” Robinson told MK Dons PlayerHD. “We’ve worked so hard to try and get something out of this season so to have our fate finally sealed is disappointing, especially in the way that it happened.
“Right now I’m feeling numb but there is anger there as well because we’ve been so close in so many games but we’ve ended in this way.
“There will be a thousand people with a thousand different opinions on what went wrong, but me, the chairman and the staff now need to narrow it down and then look at those intensely.
“It’s my job as manager, along with the rest of the staff, to try and work out where we go from here. It’s important no cracks are papered over now. People, at times, haven’t been good enough this season.
“We need to find out where we are weak. I’ll speak to some of the players whose contracts are up and inform them of where their future lies after this season.”

“I want to say thanks to the fans for the way they conducted themselves. Something I won’t forget for a long time is how they acted at the end. It means so much.”

“That fearless mentality has to come back into us. We need to find some way of installing that swagger that we always had back into the group. It’s about us moving forward – we need to find people who are winners.
“While it might be a difficult pill to swallow at the moment, if we can use this season to learn and come back stronger then it could be a much easier one. If people aren’t willing to learn from the mistakes of this year then it’s been a waste.
“Relegation will give us sternness and a steadiness to move forward. Tough times never last but tough people do – it hurts but when we come back in the summer it will be full steam ahead.
He continued: “I don’t fear anything anymore because nothing will feel as low as this – getting relegated with the Club that you love. That ruthless has to carry through to the Football Club.
