Jonny joins the Dons

22 January 2016

The Dons have signed Wales international Jonny Williams on a 93-day emergency loan.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder joins from Premier League side Crystal Palace and he could make his debut this weekend at Bolton Wanderers, subject to clearance.

Williams, who has featured for Palace, Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest, has made 98 senior appearances, 12 of which have come in the Premier League. He also has nine senior international caps to his name.

His deal will run up until and including the Dons' Sky Bet Championship clash with Brentford on 23rd April.

“I’m delighted to be here,” he told MK Dons PlayerHD. “It’s a new chapter in my life and I’m really excited to come here and play football.

“The way the team plays really excites me. I’m a player who likes to get on the ball, play football and enjoy myself so that’s one of the main reasons why I’m here.

“This is a platform for me to show what I’m capable of and hopefully I can come and help this team stay up as well.

Williams added: “I can’t wait to get started and get that first game in. Hopefully we can start with three points on Saturday.”

Boss Karl Robinson said: “Jonny is someone who I’ve always liked from a young age. He really suits our style – he’s a very offensive player and can play in a variety of positions.

“He’s also got an unpredictability about him and a low centre of gravity which gives him that ability to drive past people. He had a massive impact on helping Palace get promoted from this division – I’m really excited about what he can bring.

"We'd have loved to have done this deal until the end of the season but as he's played for Crystal Palace and already been out on a standard loan this season, a 93-day loan is the longest we can acquire his services for."

Robinson continued: “I want to say a massive thank you to Alan Pardew, Phil Alexander and Steve Parrish – I spoke to all three and they were great with us. I appreciate them allowing for us to come here and we hope aid his development."
