Injury update: Walsh/Reeves/Randall

21 August 2015

Head of Sports Medicine Simon Crampton offers an injury update...

Joe Walsh
“Joe sustained an injury to his knee in training on Monday, unrelated to the one he suffered at the back end of last season. Unfortunately this is something that has required surgery, which he had in London. He needed a ligament repaired.

“He will now wear a knee brace and be on crutches. Over the next six weeks, we will progress the movement with his knee brace and, once he comes out of that, we’ll start a more robust rehabilitation programme.

“We’re expecting him to be sidelined for at least three months while he recuperates.”

Ben Reeves
“Reevesy suffered an injury in the game against Preston. He finished the game but, once we assessed him afterwards, there was a strain to his hamstring.

“This has been confirmed by a scan and he will now be in our care for a short period of time.”

Mark Randall
“Randers has been progressing well and he’s outside doing some football-specific rehabilitation sessions. He’s changing direction and sprinting – we need to build his tolerance.

“He will go through a pre-season type programme to get up to speed because he missed it. That’s started now but he’ll need to be carefully monitored.”

Everyone at the Club would like to wish Joe, in particular, a full and speedy recovery.
