MK Dons ‘keeper Ian McLoughlin played 90 minutes for Republic of Ireland U-21s last night (Tuesday) in their 1-0 defeat to Turkey.

A late winner from Turkish substitute Oguzhan Ozyakup was enough to steal the points in the UEFA U-21 Group Seven qualifier which leaves McLoughlin’s Irish side three points off second spot although they do have two games in hand.

Picking up his eighth U-21 cap, McLoughlin pulled off a couple of important saves before being beaten late on in a game Ireland deserved to win.

The Irish squad, which includes players from Manchester United, Arsenal and Sunderland, will now pick themselves up and prepare for their next qualifier away to Hungary on 6th September.
