Hodson turns attention to Tuesday

18 August 2014

Lee Hodson wants the team to put the weekend’s defeat behind them as they look towards their trip to Chesterfield on Tuesday.

The Dons fell to their first defeat of the 2014/15 season on Saturday afternoon, after losing 3-2 to Peterborough United at London Road despite goals from Dele Alli and Daniel Powell.

Despite the loss, however, right-back Hodson insists confidence is still high in the Dons camp and says the squad are eager to return to winning ways when they travel to the Proact Stadium on Tuesday evening for their meeting with the Spireites.

Speaking to MK Dons Player, he said: “We just need to put this defeat behind us and look to Tuesday. The games are coming thick and fast now, so we can’t afford to dwell on things too much.

“We will, of course, go over the game in detail. We’ve got to look at the things we can do better but also take the positives out of it. However, we’ve got to start concentrating on Tuesday and getting back to winning ways.

The Northern Ireland international continued: “We need to go to Chesterfield full of confidence like we have done in the last three games. We can’t let this defeat knock us back or affect our confidence, we’ve got to go into Tuesday with the same frame of mind and look to win the game.”

For the second time in as many games, the Dons scored inside the first five minutes of the second half – this time to level things up after Peterborough on the stroke of half-time.

Hodson believes the team’s fast starts after the break is a show of the character and belief amongst the group. He added: “Coming out and getting those goals so soon after half-time shows the character of the lads.

“Today, we went into half-time one-nil down but we still had the belief that we could get back into the game. We’ve just got to stop the goals going in at the other end which will come.”

Next up for Hodson and the Dons is a trip to Chesterfield on Tuesday evening. Tickets are priced at £20 for adults, £13 for over-65s and under-18s and £9 for under-9s and are available to buy from the Box Office and on the night at Proact Stadium.
