George and U’s go top

30 November 2015

George Baldock helped Oxford United move to the top of the Sky Bet League 2 on Saturday afternoon.

Baldock made his 20th league appearance of the season for the U’s, as they beat Hartlepool United 1-0 at Victoria Park thanks to Danny Hylton’s 70th minute strike.

The right-back made a number of important clearances en route to keeping a ninth clean-sheet of the campaign, while he also went close to putting Oxford in the lead earlier in the game with a near-post effort which was saved by Trevor Carson.

Baldock and co have now lost just once in their last 13 matches and sit top of the division on goal difference above Plymouth Argyle and Northampton Town.

Nuneaton’s first-round tie will take place around the weekend commencing Saturday 12th December, meaning Tshimanga will be available to feature.

Tshimanga played 90 minutes for the Boro, who progressed through to the first round proper thanks to goals from Robert Duffy and Callum Chettle - the young Dons striker was replaced in injury-time by Jordan Keane.

Elsewhere, Kabongo Tshimanga made his full debut for Nuneaton Town in their 2-0 victory over Alfreton Town in the FA Trophy.
